0.9.9 Patch Notes

Question about the legacy migration...

Prior to the last migration, I had:
* Default chars
* Default stash (4 tabs)
* no Legacy

After 0.9.7, I had:

* old Default chars -> now moved to Legacy
* old Default stash pages -> now Legacy stash pages (remove-only)
* new Default stash with 4 blank pages
* new Default chars

So I'm wondering what will happen in the next migration. My current Default chars will move to Legacy, but is that the same Legacy as my "current" Legacy? That is, will my 0.9.8-Default and 0.9.8-Legacy characters now all be in the same 0.9.9-Legacy league?

Similarly, will the 0.9.8-Default and 0.9.8-Legacy stashes be 'combined'?

That would seem kind of odd, given that they were deliberately separated by the previous migrations.

Maybe someone who's been around for more than one default-to-legacy migration can shed some light?

Thanks!

All legacy characters are bundled together into 1 legacy league. There are 2 legacy leagues, legacy default and legacy HC.

Seems like hardcore will be way more hardcore with the improved AI and abilities of monsters.
Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.

Hardcore to the bone.

  • The experience formula for multiplayer games has changed. There is now a 30% experience bonus for being in an area with a party member, and additional players in an area beyond the first add 50% more experience rather than 75%. This is a little better for two-person parties and a little worse for six-person parties.

Oh boy, because we didn't have enough reason to not party already.

this.

"class"- and/or boss-design is often the main-reason in common online-games why one have to/want to join or create a party.
but even if its not needed, a lot of people (and me) like to party up, just for the feeling of doing something together.
but despite this i dont like to party in POE, because i feel that the game is not really party-friendly.
there is the FFA-issue but also a lot of other little things that seem to be designed for singleplayer: for example the view/field-of-sight, the interior-dungeon-design, the party-UI, the "class"-design (allocation of tasks is very soft)
in POE there is no need to party up imo - it feels more like a penalty.

for me this game is a (very good) singleplayer with chat and forum for trade.

but nevertheless a lot of the 0.9.9-things sounds great and interesting.

Most of the spiders in Act Two (and several bosses such as Plague Retch in the Chamber of Sins) use Viper Strike and prioritise targets that are already poisoned. If you get hit by one Viper Strike, the spiders may break away from their current targets to try to stack more copies of poison on you.
(bold emphasis added by me)

Could you please explain this? It seems to go against the general mechanic rule that has been implied in other threads.

While I was a little disappointed by the impression I got about the new content (I was really hoping for more Dual Wield attention/skills) it all looks like its a nice sizable update with neat ideas.
