So I dusted off Wolcen

Bored between leagues and disenchanted by Last Epoch so I decided to see if the new Wolcen patch/balancing made any impact... game crashed after about 5 min on a new character. Welp, that's that kekw

Over one year later

It is still bugged and has little endgame content. Even postive reviews mention that online play is still bricked.

Looks like its is in maintenance mode and will probably enter life support in one year.

I guess it will get another surge of players when the price drops below 20$ but they will not stick too long and move to better products.

For a comparison Wolcen has around 700 daily players while LE and Grim dawn have 5k and 4.5 k respectively.

And LE has not even MP yet implemented. I assume the player count will get a similar looking and changing player count curve as PoE when they introduce leagues which will cannibalize even more players from Wolcen.

Imo they should not bother with this project in the current state anymore. But if they still have the will to do any further, only a completly re-release ,like No Mans Sky, would help (if they do it right of course).
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body."

Only usable with Ethanol Flasks

It's tragic this dumpster fire sold well in excess of 2 million copies aided and abetted by some shady practices. I don't think it has the potential to pull off a No Man's Sky with such a lazy & incompetent development team - the much vaunted 2nd dawn and first stab at introducing season type content were massive flops, I don't think many people with be giving it a 3rd chance.

Oh, but wiser people than you and I came to this very forum and preached the gospel of Wolcen! They dissed PoE and pumped Wolcen, and yet, now we hear almost nothing from them about Wolcen. Oh, they still diss PoE on its own forum, having no place better to be, and promote new up-and-comers like Last Epoch in hopes of securing vindication for their vindictiveness toward PoE. But their own, flawed judgment is seldom recognized in hindsight. =9[.]9=

At least one of them is pushing D2R and D4 now. Well tbf, they had always championed Blizzard, even for D3. Wolcen was just another game that they jumped on to preach their 'anything not PoE' swan song. Funnily enough, their posts always also show them as having a high number of challenges complete in PoE...
I am actually ashamed Wolcen has a 55% score on Steam instead of below 50%. We as a community should be better than this, more demanding, more resistant to crap.

Not that I want to be Wolcen's WK but I gotta say, up until they were about 70% done with re-making the game, No Man's Sky devs were also seen as a "lazy and incompetent", and actually much worse than that.

I don't expect anyone to be as much of a workaholic bent on satisfying costumers as Sean Murray, but it has happened before, so I wouldn't rule it 100% out...

Maybe 99%
I clicked your post with some genuine interest and hopeful positivity to see whats changed. That made me chuckle. What a shame about wolcen, maybe one day it'll get all ironed out and relaunched.
still how they handle melee archetype is very good.
