Like Channy-chan said, although all people are more or less assholes, you'd rather deal with the ones who wear it on their sleeve, than the ones who sneak it into your frijoles and serve it up to you with a cultured flourish. Or shall we say a "culture of flora"...?
I'll be the first to admit though if a place has a bad vibe or seems to push an agenda of bad politics or just Captain Assholio atmosphere, I'll skip it. Even if they have really good food. Been wrong about places that looked bad, and places that looked good, just like we've all been stung by people who were too good to be true. I don't think that there is really any mocking going on.
For a native speaker it is easy to forget that written words can also represent sounds. This is very amusing. Thank you all for sharing.
