[3.14] Perry's Unleash Exsanguinate (Phys DOT Trickster)

In the leveling section you said to level with caustic arrow from the very beginning but then recommend dual wielding wands.

You only use caustic arrow until you can set up your spellslinger which requires wands. When you do this swap you can use frenzy as your spell to proc spellslinger.
Excellent guide, well presented and very thorough.
if this doesnt get nerfed it will most likely be my starter next league.
good guide, good build

Currently, level 95 and this build has allowed me to kill sirus solo with no deaths for the first time. I also killed Shaper and Elder and I am progressing towards uber. I am in tier14+ red maps and doing well. I tried The Formed invitation the other day but was unable to complete it. Unsure if it is just not good for this kind of fight or if I am missing something. Here is my current POB. https://pastebin.com/f0LqqiH3

Flasks outside of taste of hate missing quality
Life flask should be instant (Seething, Bubbling, Panicked)

I like your adaptation on a Basalt Flask of Reflexes when dropping the Jade Flask for a Taste of Hate

doesn't matter so much for the boss fight but your Abyssal jewel could use an Onslaught on kill roll (ilvl 50 for t2, ilvl 80 for t1)

shoot for 21/20 on your Exsanguinate and Corrupting Fever
you can also quality your Arcane Surge to 20 which will give you 10% increased spell damage nvm that only effects supported skills, thx KaTet

Amulet you have is good, but if you are looking to upgrade the next step would be one with +1 to phys skill gems AND +1 to Strength gems will also give you more damage, but looking at minimum of 3EX to buy IIRC, probably more for a good life roll.

You can self craft, but it takes a lot of alterations, an Awakener Orb, and probably some follow-up Harvest Crafting (so depends on how comfortable you are with the crafting process). You can pretty deterministically roll +#% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier with Harvest for even more damage if you know how (unfortunately I screwed up my first attempt and I'm happy enough with my 2nd attempt that I'm going to go without for now).

IIRC Awakened Controlled Destruction is more damage than Awakened Brutality, Perry just happened to drop the Awakened Brutality in SSF, but you need levels on your awakened brutality in order for it to be better than its non-awakened 20/20 equivalent (would be the same for Awakened Controlled Destruction), so it may just take a bit of leveling to get more bang from the gems. You could also use a T3 Tora in research to straight up give the gem 200,000,000 xp.

There is a next step on the gloves as well since you could shoot for a pair of Essence of Delirium crafted pair of Hunter influenced Apothecary's Gloves and hope to hit +(#)% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier. There are even some steps you could shoot for after that depending on how much currency you want to throw at the build (elevated Phys DOT multi + elevated Unnerve on Hit after some more research I believe that Unnerve only works with hit portion of Exsanguinate), but that would be truly best in slot assuming a good life roll and the resistances you need at that point.

I haven't done the feared fight myself, but those bosses are all heavy hitters, so if you don't know their mechanics, find a video and learn them. Also consider what Pantheon's might make a difference in the fight, if you are running out of life flask charges considered Ryslatha and Chayula does a lot of chaos damage IIRC so Arakali might be a good choice if your chaos res is lacking a bit.

Phys mitigation is the main weakness of the build once you get chaos res capped. I'm looking at Crafting Aspect of the Crab on an open suffix. But I will need to free up some mana to be able to activate it. Alternatively or in addition to that you could look for the Syndicate Craft (#)% additional Physical Damage Reduction while Focussed

And make sure to try to keep Fortify active via Vigilant Strike. You could also consider slotting in a The Vigil gem for the fight in order to get a little more Fortify uptime. Also make sure you are popping Enduring Cry close enough to keep up 3 endurance charges for phys mitigation.

FYI arcane surge quality does nothing. It increase spell damage on the skills it supports, not generic spell damage.

You are right. Thanks for doing a closer reading of it than I did and bringing it to my attention. :-)

Crafting a body armour for the build per Perry's specs

DISCLAIMER: As with most crafting in the game, I got some lucky breaks in order to come out with a good chest piece. So start with a decent amount of currency and be prepared to sell or start over on any failures. What is a decent amount? 1000 alterations, 200 jewellers, 1000-2000 fusings, 2-5 Exalts, enough chaos to buy the base(s).

1. Buy an i86 Redeemer influenced Carnal Armour or Sadist's Garb
2. Scour
3. Alt spam to hit Phys taken as Elemental damage (in this case cold) and Chance to Gain a Frenzy Charge on Hit
4. Get super lucky and hit both mods
5. 20% quality via armourer's scraps
5. Buy a Craicic Chimeral
6. Create an Imprint
7. Regal
8. Hit T8 Cold res (sadge)
9. YOLO Annul and remove cold res (we do have an imprint)

for step 3 it is probably easier to just Awakener Orb with a throw away influenced chest piece with Phys Taken as Ele. The odds are that bad at least according to Craft of Exile.

10. Harvest divine to get Phys Taken as Cold to Maximum
11. T4 Hillock 30% quality via Catarina Safehouse
12. T4 Aisling vieled mod via Catarina Safehouse and got a veiled prefix (Veiled)
13. Unveil to reveal Chance to Avoid Elemental Ailments and Chance to Avoid Being Stunned*
14. Craft Int + 18% quality (for 48% quality, which makes 6 linking more likely)
15. 6 socket (estimate around 50 jewller's orbs, could take you more or less)
16. 6 linked (1037 fusings, could take you more or less)
17. Remove crafted mods
18. Multimod
19. Craft Life
20. Craft Lightning and Chaos Res

*This mod is NOT guaranteed. You get a choice of 3 possible veiled mods, but the list is small and most are useful, which is why I gambled on the veiled mod. If it had been a suffix ("of the Veil") I might have removed it via the crafting bench before unveiling it because the pool of possible mods is much larger and some of the mods are either not useful or of marginal use.

What could I have improved with unlimited currency?

I would probably have used a Sadist's Garb as a base for the higher Evasion and because of the interaction with the Trickster Ascendancy Notable Escape Artist and I probably would not have added the implicit Quality does not Increase Defense Grants +1 to Maximum Life per 2% quality.

I would have Maven Orbed two appropriate bases with the elevated versions of #% Chance to Gain a Frenzy Charge On Hit and #% of Physical Damage Taken as Fire/Lightning.

And shot for T1 life.

That would be about as perfect as I could get assuming also hitting % chance to avoid elemental ailments with the application of the veiled mod via Aisling.

Crafting a +1 STR/+1 Phys amulet for the build

I only made it to Step 7 on this amulet because it was hard to pass up T2 Energy Shield, T2 Life Regeneration, and T2 Chaos Resistance.

Feel free to chime in if I have something incorrect or if you know of better options.

Cautionary tale: Prefixes Cannot Be Changed is literal. It DOES NOT mean that prefixes cannot be added. It means the existing prefixes on the item cannot be changed. I semi-bricked my first attempt by not knowing this. Fortunately I was able to sell it for a slight profit.

ilvl 82 Hunter Amulet +# to Level of all Strength Skill Gems
ilvl 82 Warlord Amulet +# to Level of all Physical Skill Gems

The target amulet needs to be ilvl 84 if you want a chance at T1 res rolls and ilvl 85 if you want a chance of T1 # to all Attributes

I wanted an Agate amulet as a base because STR and INT are the two stats the build struggles with acquiring.

1. Buy your amulets with or without the mods of interest (skip to 4 if they already have the mods and NO other influence mods: "Hunter's", "of the Hunt", "Warlord's", "of the Conquest")
2. Scour
3. Alt spam until you hit the mods of interest. +# to level of all Physical Skill Gems has the lower weighting so expect it to take more alts.
4. Buy or acquire an Awakener Orb
5. right click the Awakener orb, left click the donor amulet, left click the target amulet (should be the agate amulet if those are the stats you want)
6. See what you get.
7. Stop here if you are okay with the result/craft on any additional mods you want if there is space available.

Option A ---No open prefixes---

1. Craft Prefixes Cannot Be Changed (2 exalts)
2. Take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier
Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier. Physical modifiers are more common

The only physical options for it to roll are

Hunter #% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier weighting of 500
Warlord #% additional Physical Damage Reduction weighting of 250

So you are more likely to Hit the Hunter mod. Now this doesn't guaranteed the T1 mod, but if you have an ilvl 82+ amulet you have a chance at a T1 roll.

Option B ---No open prefixes AND No open suffixes---

1. Take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item, keeping all Prefixes

2. When you get an open suffix craft Prefixes Cannot be Changed (2 Exalts)
3. Take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier
Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier. Physical modifiers are more common

Option C ---One open prefix AND No open suffixes---

1. Craft life as your open prefix
2. take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item, keeping all Prefixes

In scenario C, since you already have one crafted mod you can't just craft on another mod so you will simply have to do this process as many times as it takes to hit #% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier. But you DO have to block the prefixes with life or ES or another bench craftable mod because if YOU DO NOT the reforge will more than likely add a random prefix that you may or may not want.

For options A, and B if you do not get the Hunter #% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier

1. Take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item, keeping all Prefixes

2. When you get an open suffix craft Prefixes Cannot be Changed (2 Exalts)
3. Take it to a harvest or buy

Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier
Reforge a Rare item with new random modifiers, including a Physical modifier. Physical modifiers are more common

--What if I have a bunch of mods I don't want like Adds # to # Fire Damage to Attacks as a prefix?--

It gets ugly if you want to remove them because of the way that GGG nerfed harvest with respect to crafting on Influenced Items.

So far as I know your options are:

1. Try to Annul the mods you don't want
2. Attempt a Beast Craft Add a Suffix, Remove a Random Prefix or Add a Prefix, Remove a Random Suffix.

At that point it is just a game of percentages and risk tolerance.

If after the Awakener Orb you have the following amulet

+# to Level of all Strength Skill Gems (prefix)
+# to Level of all Physical Skill Gems (prefix)
Adds # to # Fire Damage to Attacks (prefix)
#% increased Lightning Damage (suffix)

If you were to annul you would have a 25% chance to hit the mod you want to get rid of because the annul can take off any of the four mods.

If you were to Beast Craft Add a Suffix, Remove a Random Prefix you would have a 33% chance to hit the mod you want to get rid of since it is limited to removing a random prefix and adding a suffix from the available mod pool (general, hunter, warlord).

But if you hit the STR or Phys Skill gems your item will have lost a lot of value.

If you don't want to risk bricking your item then use it AS IS or consider putting it up for sale because a +1 phys/+1 str amulet is likely to sell even if the other modifiers are less than perfect.

Recap

https://pastebin.com/WUnxdbWa

Lvl 99, might shoot for Lvl 100 in the remaining few days of the league just to have the achievement.

The build was basically untouchable in Ultimatums outside of one instance where I got gibbed by a Glacial Cascade from a Beyond boss in a juiced T16 from across the circle.

Mapping in T16s and delving is pretty smooth.

Overall I consider this build a good all-rounder. (ignoring proximity shields helps out a lot with this tag)

It is still prone to one shots, though some of those deaths could have been avoided with better game knowledge or more careful play as it was my first time doing most of the endgame bosses.

Deaths: 31

164/164 Atlas Bonus Objectives
164/164 Awakening Bonus Objectives

1/3 Trialmasters (2 losses)
20 Wave Simulacrum (Bosses on waves 15, 17, 20)
x2 Catarina 1 portal 1st time, 0 portals 2nd time
x2 Sirus 8 1 portal
Maven 4 portals (thought you were locked out from logging if you failed memory game)
x4 80%IQ AW8 Conquerors 0 portals
Kurgal (delve)
Mavened Shaper 0 portals (aside from the original LUL)
Mavened Elder 0 portals
Ahuatotli (delve) (65% more monster life, 40% monster physical damage reduction, monsters gain a power charge on hit) 2 tries
Legion 4 way down (Eternal Empire, Karui, Vaal, Maraketh) 4 waves and some change (clearing setup: chain and Replica Mistwall)
Mavened Uber Atziri was a no go, might have been better off using Replica Mistwall (as opposed to a 2nd CIP) and shooting for Reflect Immunity
303 Delve so far
Pure Breachstone Uul-Netol

Investment level to get there? It is a little hard to say because I self crafted a fair amount, but I would guesstimate 15 exalts.

I would like to add in Aspect of the Crab and a Nearby Enemies Take increased Physical Damage helm. I got close to a perfect helmet but it had a Socketed Gems are Supported with Minion Damage prefix which would have required too much mana reservation for me to support Aspect of the Crab even if I had managed to get the Pride has 15% reduced mana reservation or Herald of Purity has 30% reduced mana reservation enchant on the helm.

Gear:

I had Commandment of Reflection on my previous pair of gloves and I liked that as it gave mobs another target. Harvest Reforge Life IIRC. Vorici for the white socket.

The Taste of Hate helped a lot with survivability so I would recommend that as an early upgrade to lookout for.

Blood Artist is stupid hard to roll on the medium cluster jewels so if you are in trade save up and buy one though any of the other notables Perry mentioned are definitely serviceable.

Stygian Vise use the reforge Chaos from Harvest until you get T1/T2 life and any other stats you need.

Lg cluster is a good spot to get additional intelligence. You will pay more for it, but if you are struggling in the INT department it is nice to pick up a chunk this way.

I opted into a Anomalous Herald of Purity to get 10% chance to Taunt on Hit which allowed me to look for other stats on Abyssal Jewels such as minions have a 6% chance to blind on hit since I didn't have blind anywhere else in the build.

I also opted into an Anomalous Steelskin for Steelskin buff can take 10% increased damage.

I sometimes used an alternate Cold Iron Point Setup with Arcanist Brand and Culling Strikes for bosses I didn't feel comfortable getting close to in order to proc Fortify.

new to this exsang thingy, and with very little knowledge of the mechanics of the game in general - but could you please explain how the levelling up section works, its flying over my head :(

atm lvl25 with caustic arrow, now i want to switch to exsang spell, but how do i do this? what should my gem set up be in my gear? and how do i combine this with an attack of frenzy? Do i take out caustic arrow spell, and replace it with frenzy? or with exsang? and where can i find the tree from lvl24 to 38....here is the guide part -

Although Exsanguinate is a level 12 Skill Gem, I do not recommend self-casting it as soon as possible.

"My recommendation for this build is to level with Caustic Arrow from the very beginning of the game. Caustic Arrow is very easy leveling, and the skill tree will be virtually identical when we swap later to using Exsanguinate.

Caustic Arrow
Pierce
Void Manip
+ Mirage Archer
+ Vicious Projectiles

We can swap to Exsanguinate at level 24, when we get Spellslinger. Attacking with Frenzy to generate frenzy charges is a quick way to progress through early leveling.

Exsanguinate
Spellslinger
Controlled Destruction
+ Efficacy

We can scale our damage with Herald of Purity early on in the game as well, or we can set up a second Spellslinger 4link with Reap at level 28."
