So... obscure indie ARPGs to recommend?
Recent games preferred over 10 year old ones (so no grim dawn or titan's quest). Everyone knows about Lost Ark and Last Epoch, too; let's see some relatively obscure ones.
GGG needs some competition and it seems prime time to highlight budding contenders. It didn't last, but we got a decent game out of people disgruntled with diablo 3, so I'm hoping we can get a decent game out of people disgruntled with PoE. You could try Nordicandia.
It's being released on Steam this Friday, September 2nd. It's a semi-idle rpg but with a lot of itemization and crafting possibilities, but less hassle than PoE. Don't let the simplistic graphics fool you, there's a lot of game mechanics under the surface! Free to play so might as well give it a go :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1503790/Nordicandia/ | |
my fav is Chronicon

Gameboy Advance:
Shining Soul I - Leans more into Diablo 1 feel. You'll be spending majority of the game kiting enemies and unleashing your charged attacks. Shining Soul II - More polished sequel. Most OP Class is a Wolf-Man who does Cyclone/Whirlwind with Knives. Nintendo DS: Soma Bringer - Has up to 3 difficulties with multiple characters. You can pick any class on any character. Infinite Respec. PC: Throne of Darkness (You Control a party of up to 4 Warriors in Feudal Japan with Monsters & Demons too - Has different quests for each Clan you start up as) Nox (Made by Westwood - Has 3 different classes with different endings) Chronicon (As somebody mentioned already - Feels like a cross between Diablo 3 (Infinite Levels), Grim Dawn/TQ (Uses the similar shapes on skill/passive tree) Has 4 Classes that have some similar build archetypes in PoE (Righteous Fire without self Damage) Hellgate London / London 2038 (Community run Private Server) Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing : Final Cut Just another Forum Signature in a Sea of Signatures.

" Got this one, and loved it. Early access so not much to it but I got to the story content limit and unlocked everything you could buy with gold. Give that 4 years of development and I'll play the shit out of it. Украина в моём сердце

ARPG market looks like it's turned to low quality junk, or always online DRM + MTX + pay to play + pay to win (some combo of those), which basically means it's a dead genre for me. Like a brother who's now excommunicado.
What do I want? Pay straight up for the game, no MTX, have both online and offline functionality. DLC in the form of expansions to the content is fine. I like mods, they add virtually unlimited content/features to the game. The last solid ARPG game we got that fits the above category? Grim Dawn. Last edited by MrSmiley21 on Sep 20, 2022, 3:58:11 PM

I've been really enjoying 'V Rising'. It's part arpg + some valheim/terraria vibes.
It's early access on steam but full game and plays really well. We tested it extensively

" It's playable from today - 10th October as part of Steam next fest and then full release on 12th October It sounds obnoxiously P2W but will give it a go. |
