Hello
Iam playing PoE since Breach-League and i love this game. But its firsttime that i write something in the forum, because iam kinda worried about this patchnotes.

I really hate the lab... Its ugly, outdated and some builds are just bad for it
(ok you can get carry, but its extra work and payment). It was okayish (for me) to do it for the ascendancy, but i never farmed the helmet enchants (i tried, but its boring and not rewarding beside the said enchant).

But even so, I think you taking too much freedom from the players (freedom of choice, to fiddle with the enchant/ unique gems and quality and the freedom to choose the content we play. Same for ultimatum and catalysts, because even if didnt played metamorph (personaly i will miss the oneshots xD) we could get them from other sources.

I understand that you want to simplify/group some mechanics but why do it this way?
Because now its all in one skill-gem and we cant do it step for step.

Also lore-wise (ok most people dont care i guess ;) suddenly there are tons of new virtue gems lyinng around in the lab, which was plundered hundred times before...
Would be better to tie it to the new mechanic (Azimeri where close to the Vaal, so they could get some virtue gems from them as gifts or steal them. Maybe some shamans/witches would then experiment with this gems years later and transfigure them but also awake this Darkness due a failure.

What iam trying to say (sorry/not sorry, english is not my first language):
It feels bad to be forced, to do something. And iam feeling forced to do the lab and ultimatum now. Ultimatum not soo bad, because its in maps, but lab...

Well, lets wait and see the new gems, items and the affliction stuff
Thanks for reading

You are no more forced to play the lab than you were forced to run unusual gem blueprints (unless SSF in which case you asked for it).
Just buy the transfigured gems from players that like to run labs, same as you used to buy alt quality ones from players theat liked to run blueprints.
What's the difference?

Heist is more fun than Lab I guess is the difference? Also running a Heist Blueprint is much qicker done than running an Eternal Lab and on top of it Heist is generally more rewarding than a regular Lab run used to be, that might change now however.

Personally I am mostly indifferent about Lab. If the rewards justify the effort, than I don't think its so bad and the changes seem to suggest that so its whatever to me.

I wanted to touch on the SSF comment because I read that a lot in PoE discussion. As an SSF exclusive player myself; yes I did sign up for the extra challenge and way longer progression curve voluntarily. However, that does not mean that I have unlimited tolerance for brutally time consuming or unapproachable content and mechanics. Hiding, more or less, mandatory stuff behind really annoying content is not the way to go even outside of SSF. The day SSF becomes unplayable or it just isn't doable to push 1 or 2 builds to a reasonable high level within 3 months of a league is the day I quit PoE. I am not just switching to Trade just because the game has no more room for balancing for their other game modes. So, "don't play SSF" is a weak argument is all I am trying to say.

This is unrelated to the Lab changes, I think the game is far from that scenario it was just more like a general statement. SSF is actually really fairly balanced in my opinion and I don't mind any of the patch changes (on paper) so far. I am actually quite happy with what I see and the league looks cracking. I didn't quite enjoy Crucible and Ancestors so I can't wait for an awesome league again. I hope it delivers :)

About Transfigured Gems, Alternate quality gems had:

"AlternateQuality True" to filter them

How is the syntaxis for Transfigured Gems?

At the very high-end, RF received a crippling blow. It already was not known for its high damage, but at least most builds could clear maps and basic bosses fairly decently. Most RF builds mid-league would have gem levels of 28-30. Just for example:

L30 RF Gem on a 5K Life/ES character would be 9330 base damage + 35% of combined life/es for an additional 1750 damage. So total base damage was 11080 on such a character.

That same character with the new gem is going to have 3500 base damage. Which means they lost 7580 base damage at the high-end. That is beyond crippling or a slight nerf

In order to overcome this, you would need to scale HP+ES to 16,857. Possible? Yes, but you are going to give up a lot of stuff to make that happen. I suppose you can also make up some of the base damage by increases to your damage multipliers off of that base, but there really isn't a lot of room for that. Most of the +2 gem level weapons, for example, don't really have a damage modifier to replace it. Both DOT Multi and Fire DOT multi are suffix based leaving a single prefix for fire damage. What other damaging prefix can you really put there? 2 open prefixes AFAIK.

That said, the build (scion RF ivory tower) that CaptainLance9 did in the previous league was super buffed as a result of this change. That character nearly doubled the damage as it scaled almost entirely on HP&ES (mostly ES) to the extreme with Ivory tower. That might become the new best method for RF now assuming that the gems cant be transformed to their previous state from a lab run.

Anyhow, until we get more information, it looks like traditional RF for the last 5-7 leagues is dead and will definitely require us to build it more like CaptainLance9. Not saying this is good or bad... But it is what it is.

is so funny to me how ppl take nerfs so personal, like if no other live service game did balance changes
Sure, vortex might have a faster clearspeed now but you can do that with any other spell, which honestly makes it less unique now and the best part of it was that you could have something/anything up and going while dodging scary ass mechanics and still getting in some dmg and kills, while enjoying a bit of free spirit and "chill" time. I guess everything has to be tense and a bit annoying in poe. The skill is probably fine for doing content but it is more a matter of playstyle and i feel like we actually lost something that is just simple to enjoy instead of going for another piano effect with other cold dot skills.

Otherwise i love you guys to death and i really would say that this is going to be one of the best leagues but this one thing bums me out way too much. Maybe Transfigured Gems give you the Insant version, who knows.

On the other hand, Cyclone more movement speed and cast on crit buffed Ice Nova might be a nice smooth thing but it can`t expand from Frostbolt anymore?
GGG NERF 80% OF THIS GAME.....TRASH,READ PATCH B4 TO SAY NICE LEAGUE

Some day The Whispering Ice will be mentioned in patch notes.
Just had a thought: tinctures are applied to weapons but do their effects only apply to weapon-hits? Or does it give you that enchantment globally?

In other words, do tinctures only work with attacks?
Possibly the greatest path of exile patch.
