Math disabled person needs help

Does every new higher roll resets the bleed duration?
Or does the max roll only works for the end of the existing bleed duration?

I assume its the later but not sure.

Every attack that applies bleed has its own duration, but only the largest bleed applies its damage. For a non crimson dance build that mostly can be viewed as "reset", I guess. For aggravated bleeding however it makes a difference, I believe, because the new bleeding is not automatically aggravated, just because the old one is, to my understanding.
