POE2 IS A CHIT
Happen to me too, every 3rd or 4th loading screen kills my System.

This happens to me on PoE1 since 24H2 and they still haven't fixed it on PoE1. Let's see if they fix it now in both games.
This happens to me on both my laptop and my desktop.
I think I always had this issue on POE1 even on previous pcs, so i really hope this is fixable.

On POE2 it always happens when entering a map, it almost completely freezes the pc but mouse moves really slowly and i must reset my pc with power button due to non-responding keyboard.

Laptop is 5900hx + 3070, 32gb RAM
Desktop is 5800x + 4080 super, 64GB RAM
For me it happens randomly from the day one, when traveling between maps.
None of the patches made it worse or better.
Mine keeps freezing also and I am getting tired of hard starting. If they do not fix this I am done playing as my pc is worth way more than this game...
I created a program to automatically handle setting CPU affinity (and also priority) on Steam-based PoE2 installs.

TL;DR
Have an AMD system?
Install HWMonitor (free) and keep it open on another screen or in the background. See if the CPU (package) temps peaks (90+c). If so, try and set your CPU cooler to MAX permanent and see if the freezing dissapears (the peaks should be way less). Freezes gone? There's your problem.
Fixes can be reseating CPU cooler with new compund (like i did), upping your fan profile for CPU cooler, etc etc.
Maybe there's even a Bios option to disable thermal limits/protections on the CPU, dunno. Wouldn't recommend though :)

Long story:
Just to post this for anyone who comes here through google, my 2 cents:
I've had the freezing/crashing issues as well and they were VERY frequent.
Like 1/2 of the times i entered a map it would crash and ever 10-15 minutes of playing.

Setting affinity so POE2 would not use CPU 0,1 and 2 (yes, i needed 3 for it to work) did alleviate some of the problems, not all.

Now my "important" message and what FIXED it for me:
I just built a new PC based around an AMD platform 9800X3D with Lian LI Galahad II 360 cooler.

Since the PC is really new, i immediately doubt my new pc as the culprit so i took a different route to find the problem. Since i've got my RAM overclocked (8000MHZ) and my 9800X3D undervolted and overclocked, i assumed i f*cked up.
So i always have HWmonitor and task manager running on a separate screen.

What i saw was that when loading a map (hideout less so) the CPU would peak to 100% and since the cooler would need a couple of seconds to speed up, CPU temps would peak somewhere between 90-100c, which is really high, since it would only be around ~65 when playing. After a few seconds when the cooler would've sped up, temps would fall back to normal. Ive never seen these peaks on intel platforms, those temps would rise more slowly so a cooler could keep up.

Everytime it froze, the temps were that high.
Since i saw the peaks on different loads/games as well, i already ordered new thermal compound to reseat my CPU (Arctic MX-6).
I reseated my CPU cooler today with the new compound. Roughly 10c less across the board.
Ive been playing POE2 now for a couple of hours, without an incident!

I'll admit, a quite drastic approach and fix, but it should be easy to test for yourself as stated in the tl;dr.

Sorry for the long post, but if it helps only one other person, it was worth :)
