Why in the HELL is the Siphon Mana ring on monsters in this game?!

bump
This is just stupid.
It’s not a challenge—it’s simply a death sentence.
I just ran into a pair of rares that spawned next to each other; both were hasted: one had Mana Siphon, and the other had Flask Charge Siphon. They were both the freeze-and-hide type of mobs, and my 5k mana was gone in about 2 seconds. The siphon rate is completely unreasonable—why in the seven hells is it allowed to pair with haste and spawn on a monster that, even without haste, can chase you to the ends of the earth? This is stupid.

Did you ever try to stand in the center of it?
You think Mana Siphon is bad?

Wait till you fight a rare with Mana Siphon, Haste and (the modifier where you need to be on top of the monster to even hurt it.)

That was fun took me like 5 minutes to battle that dumbass thing but it was fun.

Good grief. Have ANY of you entitled gamers even played D2? POE is a love letter to that game. D2 has been popular for DECADES for a reason.

In D2, there are mechanics for immunities to EVERYTHING. Melee runs into physical immunes, Sorcs run into elemental immunes etc. Sometimes a random modifier combination on a unique makes them un-killable. It was part of what made that game endure, because the struggle is what makes gaming memorable.

So here we are, with a scenario where your character may have to run away or adjust their abilities. Whine whine whine.

First, physical immunity in D2 can be removed by lvl1 necro curse, any elemental immunity can be removed by lvl 30 curse or a paladin aura (both curses and auras are available to other classes via late endgame items). Poe never had any means to temporarily shutdown any monster modifiers, you are either passively immune or dead.

Second, in D2 you can easily run away from any rare. In Poe2 you have to kill all rares on map.

Third, D2 never had any resurrect limitations, even if you met a rare hard countering and killing your character, it was up to you to keep trying or bypass it. No boss health reset either.

Except that in D2 you didn't have things like trials ect that take 30 minutes to complete and then you fail it because the requirement is to kill an unkillable mob.

The immunities didn't make D2 the good game it is, that would be itemisation and skill builds. The entire immune mechanic was cheesed out of most of the time by relogging, if you ran into lightning immune on a lightning sorc or Javazon you either just ignored it.

Or you ran a merc with Infinity or Infinity on weapon swap.. hehe ima BM some motherflippers on my trapper..

The mana donut is not a problem in my opinion. I've played mana heavy ranged and melee, I managed to work around it on both really easy.

Is it just otherwise immortal MoM players complaining?
D2r added sunder charms, so there is nothing you are immune to damaging.

Mana siphon wouldn't be so bad if every mob didn't have at least double your move speed.
+1 its a no-fun movementspeed/burst check
I completely agree with these posts. I am a sorcerer and with the essentially zero mobility POE2 offers to avoid adds this mana siphon affix is near impossible to defeat. I am in act 3 and have killed a few of these but they nearly always kill you as a caster. This is not fun at all, frankly the kind of thing that drives players away. I am fine with a challenging game but this is retarded.
