Killed monsters respawn after checkpoint reload can cause continuous death loop.
The main problems with checkpoints are the monster respawn, even after you cleared them after activating the checkpoint. Since they cannot be activated again that you'll have to find a new one after clearing hoards of monsters.
And if in the event during that clearing you died, you'll have to do it all over again since the checkpoint restore will respawn all the monsters. Some area can cause death loops as there are too many monsters around the checkpoint and you need high damage to fight your way out of being surrounded (unlikely for an early character), dodge does not allow you to roll out of them of course - Freythorn ritals for example. +1 to the no monster respawn. Like Silverfist's checkpoint causing him to aggro you and dozens of mobs around the checkpoint.

+1 to this! I was at died by the alter encounter in act 1 and every time I respawned; I got pounced by adds and kept dying until I got lucky.

One of the more annoying parts of dying in campaign. As if it wasn't a struggle enough already. Respawning mobs is insane. I'm fine redoing a boss a bunch but reclearing an entire area that i've already been through (or am backtracking through to get a quest item I missed) really sucks.

The thing is, theres already a way to respawn the monster (by reloading the instanse), so it makes no sense for them to do it automatically. They need to let the players choice |

If you're constantly dying to basic enemies, go to an easier area to level up and get new gear. What even is this thread? If you burn your hand on the stove, don't keep grabbing the stove. |

+1 , silverfist arena is insane with mobs that charge, poison, and surrounding the entire arena. I am currently stuck at checkpoint. Constantly being one shot.

" Tell me you didnt read the pose without telling me. or at least didnt comprehend it. Its not about being strong or not, its about getting overwhelmed when the checkpoint is in a corner and the ENTIRE MAP respawns boxing you in. Cant kill things if yore dead cause 20 mobs are all hitting you at once due to NO fault of your own. Example. there are areas where 10-15 mobs spawn around a checkpoint before activating it. you kill those mobs ezpz. you die to boss, get respawned at that checkpoint. all those mobs you killed? theyre back and immediately ALL agro you and dogpile. Cant roll out Cant kite cause youre up against a wall So now youre taking damage from 15 enemies you ALREADY KILLED all at the same time PoE2 wasnt designed to let you drop one skill and nuke everything on the screen. especially early-mid game This isnt the player "Being underpowered" its a design oversight/bug. enemies should not respawn. or at the very least checkpoints should have a zone around them that enemies cannot go through/damage through. and that you cant damage through as well. It just took me 10ish tries to spawn from a checkpoint in Freythorn as a sorc because every time I was mobbed by ~20 small mobs, could barely get one cast off and couldn't roll through them.
The only way I was able to get out was a lucky spawn where it was "just" 8 of the big slow heavy hitters so I could create some distance and actually hit them, versus not getting a single cast off Seems like kind of a basic idea that the immediate respawn area shouldn't be in the middle of packs of mobs Last edited by kronchev#6077 on Jan 1, 2025, 3:02:31 PM
