Are you satisfied with the new patch's response to Trials?

"Trial of the Sekhemas Players were finding Trial of the Sekhemas particularly frustrating in close range so we’ve reworked how Honour Damage scales when in close range, as well as fixing an important bug that was causing players to take far too much Honour Damage from Damage over Time. Honour Damage now scales down based on distance to enemies, when in close range you’ll take 35% less Honour Damage, tapering off as you are further away from Monsters. Fixed a bug where Damage over Time was dealing thrice as much damage to Honour as intended, and fixed a bug where Honour Resistance was only applying to two-thirds of that damage. (This was confusing for us too) Skitter Golems no longer use basic attacks and instead now just explode. Serpent Clans burrow and ambush attack now has improved visual telegraphing and cannot be used from as far away. Volcanoes created by Rattlecage’s Fissure Slam now last half the duration." Are you happy with these changes? Personally, I think the honor mechanic should be completely removed. A range based 35% decrease for melee means nothing. But perhaps the biggest, most obnoxious aspect of the trial, is needing to farm the entry items. I've done the trial twice on Cruel, and it has been about 20 hours of play since I've found an entry item. I've pretty much stopped playing. I have no desire to continue the game if I'm going to have to farm for 40 hours to enter a trial that I will probably fail because of RNG. Thoughts? Last bumped on Jan 12, 2025, 2:18:39 AM

I'm happy with the patch notes, so much has happened i forgot it's barely been over a week since launch. I'm trusting the cooks in this kitchen.

Main issue I see is the melee imbalance so yeah it's a start.

No, I find the Trials as a whole to be on overly punishing set of mechanics in general.
I was very much enjoying POE 2 until hitting the Trials. The frustration is that no progress is saved. If you make it to the end boss, and die. You have to re-clear the entire trial again, to return to that boss. That is incredibly frustrating. This single experice of: attempting and repeatedly dying on the Trials Boss, only to recelar the entire trials again, to die on the Trials boss, only to reclear the entire trials again, and die to the Trials boss, only to reclear the entire trials... Was that sentence tedious? So was reclearing the trails upon dying to the boss! Save progress upon reaching the boss room! Reclearing the previous rooms isn't a challenge, it's tedious and punishing. And it ruins this experience. |

Sadly no. I won't be coming back until it's changed. It's in the right direction for sure but it's miles off from where it needs to be. Honor is a stupid mechanic that needs to be removed. Having to get an entry item on rng is ignorant and needs to be removed. Having to re clear the entire thing only to fight the boss is wasting my time and i'm done doing that for this game. They won't be doing anything meaningful until after the new year. See yall next league, maybe.

" This is perhaps the most ubiquitous problem in the game. I can't tell you how many times I've just died to something that was in no way obvious to me. And that's annoying as shit when going through the story or maps, but is downright obnoxious and unfun when it happens in one of the trials. Especially the tier of trials that have disposable entry items. This game has too much jank to have trials that are this hardcore. You can implement trials that are this difficulty when you've refined your system. Builds aren't even balanced. Some classes can INSTANTLY kill bosses. I play cold sorc, I'm going to be fighting for 2-3 minutes since COF was nerfed. How is that fair? I would like to see a stream of the GGG developers playing their game on Hardcore. I'll still pass. Nothing like DC'ing in the middle of one and oh you failed because our servers had a hiccup for 5 seconds, that's on you, enjoy doing it all over again. It's what I hated most about Labs and now it's somehow even worse. Edit: Also Trial of Chaos is just pure RNG and we got no changes for that at all.
