Herald of Plague Feels Quite Bad and Almost Useless vs. Other Heralds

Title.

I'm finding it difficult to justify the 30 spirit cost for a proliferation that barely seems noticeable. That and it contributes zero damage or increased poison magnitude, or has any increased poison duration. No chance to poison.

The herald notable on the tree also only has buffs for elemental heralds :/

Not even an almost useless 'plague crawler' pet this time around :|

I'm hoping in the patch later this week this is one of the skills that is getting looked at. Not saying it needs to do some kind of insane proliferation pops like the others, but it really needs some kind of love for people playing poison builds.

(The buff icon also doesn't show up next to your other heralds/buffs)

Shameless bump cuz this is my favourite herald and I really want to be excited to use it later in PoE 2.
Yeah, I don't know. I use it, and it does seem to work in some very particular scenarios (Plague Bearer nova nuke in a pack, for example). However, there might be some skills/buffs that will end up being a better use of your spirit though and that is especially true if you don't have a lot of poison stacks. Even there, it's probably going to be subpar in red maps.

In packs, in non red maps, it does spread quickly from one to another, if the poison is damaging enough to kill the mobs extremely fast (in less than 0.25/0.5 seconds) and if you have plenty of max poison stacks (e.g. 6 to 8). If mobs don't die fast enough, which is probably the case if you don't hit them with a highly damaging attack, it's just average.

The Herald of Plague could really benefit from having a flat "More % to poison magnitude" or something while active though.

Right, that's the other thing; there are so many better and powerful options for your spirit usage.

If I were to run HoA/I/T on my poison build I'd be getting way more faster clear than using HoP.

I just want to it to have something else, anything else on top of prolif. That and the herald cluster to include HoP as well.
I find it quite good mixed with Staking toxins.
It also doesn't get the benefit of the damage nodes in the passive tree. I feel like it's coded wrong. The other heralds also show up as buffs in your auras list I'd you turn it on. Plague does not.
I've also noticed that herald passives (on the far right) do not work with herald of plague. Particularly the 6% reduced spirit cost. It wouldn't be worth it anyway since it would only be worth 2 points of spirit but it makes me assume the damaging ones don't work either.
Does anyone know if the poison spread stacks with the ascendancy notable from pathfinder? I asked in like 4 different places but nobody could give me an answer.

what do you mean it works great with stacked poisons? it clearly states that it only proliferates 1 poison ( the highest one), so stacking should be irrelevant after the initial target
If it's anything like in PoE1 while a dying creature only transfers 1 poison, a creature can receive poisons from multiple enemies dying around it. Meaning that poisons stack quickly on rares surrounded by white enemies. However, monster density is way different in poe2, so hard to say.
