Nerf Energy Shield & Buff Armour

They gutted life and mana nodes compared to poe1, but they actually buffed ES nodes compared to poe1 and people who are playing ES characters which is at least 60% of player base don't want it to get nerfed.

It does need nerf, it needs a nerf around 30-40% across all nodes. Also grim feast needs to be nerfed. It should only overcap 50% over your ES with at least 60 spirit cost.

Anyone who says ES doesn't need any nerf, considering GGG's "vision", are mainly playing ES character, no exception.

If GGG is not gonna nerf ES, then put life nodes back, like poe1, small nodes like 10% and with notables 20-30% increased maximum life. Around 6-7 clusters should be enough. This way, it can be considered even compared to ES.

grim feast doesnt much if you get hit regularly, especially maps with fire on ground, and for bosses its pretty much useless

Agree and hope GGG nerfs ES in an upcoming patch soon.

I question that, since most damage comes from elemental and chaos and on-death effects, And even trash mobs can have big hits and agains those, armor is less effective.

I would like to recommend nerfing ES across the board, such as ES nodes on the passive tree and base ES on items while at the same time buffing armour gain from equipment and armour nodes. They could even add life to armour nodes.

Energy shield seems to be a far superior defensive choice as compared to armour in almost every situation. Nerfing energy shield while buffing armour would help level the playing field.


They need to nerf ES and CI tbh. Armor calculations need to be completely reworked too.
I think everyone knows ES increases on the skill tree are going to get nerfed. Grim Feast and/or overflow is also a known problem and will probably receive design adjustments somewhere.

As for armour there are a lot of different ways buffing it could be approached. I made a post myself talking about the massive shortcomings of armour and comparing it to defensive scalings in PoE1. if es in the top parts of the tree get nerfed, i hope they add some fucking life nodes up there 'cus as a bloodmage it's so dry, we have 1 node that gives any life and life is our main defense as well as our casting resource (this is one of the main reasons half bloodmages right now are just running lvl 7 dd builds).
please replace some of the es nodes in the top part of the tree with life nodes.
