Let’s Bring PvP Back in PoE 2: A Call to the Community - Theres a Tldr
PVP is incompatible with POE.
Where on earth do all of these drivebys come from? |

Great idea, lets lose 95% of what's left of the 95% that already left.

I’m not sure why there's so much hostility toward the idea of PvP in PoE2. If you're not into PvP, that's totally fine—but adding a small, optional arena for the ~3% (completely made-up number from someone in here that doesn't know any people that would like to pvp so assumes his experience is everyone's but maybe its the type of people he plays with?) of us who enjoy it really wouldn’t affect your gameplay at all. A simple right-click to duel option or a dedicated arena on the side isn’t some massive resource drain.
People say “it’s a waste,” but PvP was part of PoE’s original design—and even PoE1 had Capture the Flag and dueling arenas. Sure, they weren’t perfect, but they showed that there’s always been an interest. Diablo II PvP worked. The community respected it. We had rules, we didn’t spam pots, and we just wanted to test skill and builds in a fair way. Many of us used to have quick-swap PvP builds—just switch a couple pieces of gear and you're ready to fight a friend. That was part of the fun. Now, PvP is barely acknowledged, and yet tons of players who’ve never touched it speak for it as if they know the numbers. PvP doesn’t take away from boss design, gear, or PvE content. We want those things too. All I’m asking is this: let us fight our friends for fun. PvP doesn’t have to be the focus of PoE2, but it should be an option—for those of us who love it and remember how much fun it used to be. Also adding pvp wouldnt lose members? not sure what person above me is even saying Last edited by Driveby#6004 on Jun 20, 2025, 1:58:21 PM

" still want pvp, see many many many ways to creatively mitigate damage, close distance and kill other players. just takes some good gear choices and adaptability. did it for years in poe 1. this is how my brain works. I think gameplay can be good, just gotta get down to the path of building a sketch it out Last edited by Driveby#6004 on Jun 20, 2025, 2:07:05 PM

+1 I personally would love to PVP in POE2 but I don't think it should be forced, or even a large part of the game/endgame as I believe it would be incredibly difficult/impossible for GGG to balance from league to league as they are currently unable to balance PVE to any meaningful extent between either of their games from launch.

yeah, being killed before you even know you're under attack by the latest flavor of screen vomit instakill build sounds like a GREAT idea...

" Funny thing... this button has been there for at least a decade in PoE1. Works on friends and guildies. Plus there's PvP arenas, and a PvP NPC... but no one cares, and when we've had PvP events the uptake was minimal. Last edited by Varana_Static#6254 on Jun 21, 2025, 8:12:24 AM

PvP won't fix this game, it will make an already unbalanced and unfinished experience even worse.

Nah. I don't see any value added with optional PvP currently. Maybe later once the game is fleshed out in an expansion. However, I'd rather them not put resources towards developing optional PvP balance because that's a monumental task in a game like this. Three years down the line when the game is mostly fleshed out maybe.... but not now.
They have so many other issues to work on first. |
