Make PoE great again - the ONE portal has to go

Dear devs,
I see you try to make "something new" to attract more people to your game with PoE2 being a dumbed down version of PoE1, but the one death per map penalty is at this moment just useless. It serves zero purpose.

We're talking about trade league ofc.
So here's the state of the game: people on the top of the foodchain will not die most of the time and clear the maps normally, get all the loot, go clear next.
Other players, not so good skilled and/or geared, will die more and while not only losing XP, which is bad enough, but they will also lose any loot they could potentially go back to pick up, they will lose a chance to come back with their stronger char or even, after they died to, say a powerful map boss, call a friend to help (it's called socializing, you basement dwellers).

Having one life per map is just pure stupidity and bad game design.

Before "git good" comments - it's not about me, I don't die. I have over 200 hours ingame, maybe 300 already, tons of currency, lvl 91 infernalist, 85 gemling, sparkmage, titan etc, farm 15-16 tier maps etc. I just read forums, reddit and youtube comments - people are NOT happy. Frustration is the key word. Stop losing customers maybe?

At the current state of the game and it's economy, the one death per map rule is just a prohibitive barrier for newer players, who already suffer enough, but inability to even re-try the fight or pickup some of their pitiful loot to at least try to sell/buy different gear is just idiotic. It benefits no one, doesn't add to the difficulty of the game in a sensible way, it just has to go.

PoE1 worked perfectly with 6 portals/lives. Fix your game pls.

No it doesn't. The real problems need to go like excessive oneshots and on death effects. It's genuinely not even hard to not die a lot.

With the amount of problems endgame right now has, I do think temporarily reverting one portal would be a good idea in the short term but bad in the long term, especially if players get used to having 6 portals back.

As I do think one portal is far better than 6 portals if a healthy endgame-state is ever achieved.
Except for Citadels and Pinnacles. No way 1 portal system should remain as it is for how scarce and deadly these encounters are.

Edit; I disagree with your statement with 6 portals working perfectly. It does well for New players in PoE1 but it absolutely trivializes content for experienced players once you become aware of gear thresholds required for said content. A middle ground must be found.

One portal is just the tip of the iceberg on things that need to change with this game.

It's like they made it un-fun on purpose. The game could be SO great, but they've purposely erected hurdles for that to happen.

1. Exp Penalties
2. The horribly implemented "ascendancy trials" that have nothing whatsoever to do with the ascendancy you're trying to get/progress.
3. Mapping is the ONLY end-game activity (even in POE 1)
4. No travel powers/mounts
5. Costs for respecs instead of free respecs and an armory of some kind to quickly switch between builds
6. The ability to skip the campaign to get to end-game during leagues
7. Stop making us slog through repeated maps... yes they say it's temporary that we have to repeat mirrored acts 1-3, but they said the same thing in POE 1 and we know how that went...
8. Add an actual trade system in-game. I can't believe they ported the bandaid they implemented in POE 1 for trading. How lazy.
9. Bot bans (which right now and for the first few weeks of every league would be roughly half the active population)

Plus, feel free to ignore people saying the game is "Just fine as it is" or "get good", etc. They are generally the ones that have played the game forever and never once supported the game they feel is so perfect.

“Next gen ARPG”
….
Nothing but recycled mechanics and a step backwards in every aspect except texture details.
….
In before “skill issue”
One portal has to stay.

Thank fuck Cast on Death + Portal doesn't exist!

I hope the game stays hard, I hope there are stakes, I hope to play a game that matters!

Clearly you haven't played endgame with anything but a store-bought, meta build if you think "hard" covers it.

Impossible would be more the descriptor.

Besides #9, 1-8 sound like you want to play a different game. In fact, those sound a lot like Diablo 4. So... go play Diablo 4.

You missed point 10... and proved its validity.

Sure, give them them 6 portals or better 10 and no death penalty, so they would zerg rush all maps with 0 resistances and insufficient health pool and dps.
People who die just failing those checks: dps, hp, resistance.

The game is already much easier than POE1.
You don't even need to git gud, just learn the basics...
You or "your friend" or whoever.
