The endgame 'needed a lot of work' because you decided to reinvent everything
Everything is quite the opposite - PoE2 inherited to much from PoE1.
Copy-pasted old game mechanics on top of new foundation. And it just doesn't work. A lot (everything?) of what they said in interviews isn't implemented. And I hope it will be. |

They for sure invented new model to run live service games offline in the shadows while the game is being slowly destroyed by bots and hackers.

The issue with the POE2 endgame is they removed the best parts of the PoE1 endgame. Filling out the altas and earning your voidstones was fun. The amount of agency you had over what maps you farmed, what content appeared in your maps, and how difficult they were based on what you chose/added was the best part of the game. The agency you had over your experience along with variety is what made PoE the best aRPG out there. Variety will come with time and can be excused as EA but the current structure shows agency will not and that sucks.
The PoE2 endgame where you don't get to pick your maps, have to game the towers and tables and pray to RNGesus that the juice goes where you want, and then you lose it all if you die once in a map is the worst of all possible worlds. It is genuinely bad. |

> Yet you decided to throw all that away and try to reinvent the wheel for PoE2 endgame. Why?!
To fix melee. |

" AND did they fixed it - No, of course not. Why bother.. So seem like 6 years wasted for just another unplayable/unstable extremely poorly optimized scope of a game that has potential, but if the game can't stop crashing your PC every 5 minutes whats the point of it's existence in the first place |

I as a player understand POE2 is in EA and it will take a couple years of them cooking for me to really like it. But to delay the game that got you here indefinitely in the meantime just feels wrong. POE1 is a finished game and the best ARPG out there atm. Wild decisions being made at GGG headquarters

POE2, in its current state, is just Diablo 4 in a Gucci suit. Looks nice on the outside, but once the suit is off we see it for what it really is;
Mediocre, copy-pasted, very generic, and quite boring. |

" Also to the point where its creators like Jonathan don't even want to play their game anymore. Now they are trying to make a game they will want to play. |

" PoE1 had an endgame? I thought it was just blitz to Pinnacle bosses and use whatever terrible cheese your Streamer Memer of choice instructed you to play this league to put it on autofarm status while complaining the economy's dead three hours after league launch. " Filling out the Atlas provided a sense of progression. It was hardly "fun". Doing whatever you could figure out to try and get the last few maps you need because nobody will ever just sell a few maps for completion rather than "EHYYY YOU WANT FIVE THOUSAND MAPS FOR 'BOUT 100DIV, RIGHT?!" was infuriating. Voidstones accomplished nothing. " What "agency"? Sure, you COULD turn on whatever content you enjoyed doing and pick map layouts you like running...but you're a complete and utter fucking idiot if you do and every single POE1 grognard will tell you so. Loudly, and at great length. Do literally anything but the latest Streamer-Approved Moneymaking Memery and you'd be told that you're not only terrible at Path of Exile, but also a horrible human being. If the Streamer Memers had their say, no one in PoE would do actually factually literally anything but 80% Delirium Breach Harbinger Whatever-Else-Can-Be-Easily-Assblasted-Through on Strand. No other maps, EVER - JUST Strand, all day every day, and no mechanics or leagues that are not Delirium or which are not flawlessly compatible with Delirium. "Agency". What a sick fucking joke. " Funny how it feels way more engaging than Endless Delirium Strand then, huh? Planning your routes to the next tower, keeping an eye out for interesting or lucrative nodes, making the best of suboptimal patterns while trying to maximize your resources...it's hardly Grand Strategy, but it's a lot more interesting than Endless Delirium Strand, that's a hundred percent certain. Does it need work? Sure. But the PoE1 endgame is a placeholder glue trap for people who're interested in nothing but the shitty overscaling power fantasy that is the only actual thing PoE1 offers anymore. She/Her

" I don't know what toxic, half-brained group of people you were playing with and getting feedback from in Standard, but this is 100% false. There are far more ways to play the game and make currency than whatever shit you just vomited on screen here. And not a single person of merit is going to sit there and tell you it's the wrong way to play the game. If making a profit is what you're focused on, you can do so with literally every single core league mechanic held in the game. Don't get angry at the game because you gimp yourself by min-maxing whatever farming strat a streamer pigeon-holed you into. And change your damn friend group if they're sitting there telling you you're an idiot for playing the game a certain way. Wait....you are part of that toxic group. " There is no "planning". You see a tower, you rush a tower through the least toxic map layouts, rinse and repeat. Maybe get lucky and find a citadel along the way. There are no "lucrative" or "interesting" nodes. There is literally nothing to look forward to in progressing the "atlas". " This is literally a skill issue. The majority of players never have to trade for map completion because they find ways to get them naturally instead of relying on others to give them what they need. If this was truly a core issue in the game, you'd have every ssf player (myself included) complaining about their inability to complete the atlas. Just admit you don't like POE1. And that's okay. But don't sit here and try to defend the absolute mediocre game that POE2 is right now. Last edited by l_Caxius_l#7930 on Jan 30, 2025, 10:59:30 AM
