Do any POE 1 players LIKE the changes in POE 2? All systems are just worse :/

"
poe1: recently removed sextants to reduce pre-map friction.
poe2: added towers to add +500% new pre-map friction.

shrug.

Even if they actually fix skill balance and build disparity, the new shiny tedium in mapping and crafting department is a "no, not again" impulse when considering returning to play. Poe2 already inherited excessive out-of-combat clicks with old loot/inventory system from poe1, and new atlas has bad QoL on top of that.

And trying to ignore towers means no loot.

Oh yeah, very intention design to hamper us and keep us from playing the game, yet forcing us to do HOURS of content we want nothing to do with.

They think they found a way to make us eat our vegetables -- It's gonna need a complete redesign. It's untenable, it really truly is..

"

It's not just towers that add friction, it's the entire design of the atlas from the beginning.

Not to cut all your great points short -- but this is the crux of it. It's a vision problem. Their vision is their guide, and they want to waste multiple hours of our time setting up towers and running low level/useless maps.

The design cannot be fixed, it's just not compatible with what we want in a game, and we don't care if GGG likes it or not. We don't, and that's 90% of what matters.

The word is untenable.

I don't know why they even put any of the old mechanics from PoE1 into PoE2.

I wanted a different game, not the same one but worse.

Expedition is stupid, why am I blowing up the ground and monsters come out? Why not just make Expedition something actually cool and interesting, like you go on an actual expedition, it plops you on a random mystery map, and you explore it, find caves/ruins, treasure, etc.

Delerium is stupid and promotes zoomy gameplay, which wasn't the point of PoE2.

Why didn't they just give us an endless dungeon with progressively harder floors or something? Or we can fight empowered versions of bosses or something.

You know, tried and true things that just work, with a proven track record, have infinite replayability, etc.

I think they could fix it with one simple feature.

"Mark as read".

Or in this case "mark as complete".

Yes, it would still suck having to open up a new zone on the map then go around clicking "mark as complete" any and all maps or towers we don't want to engage with.

But it would be a workable solution without requiring an entire overhaul of the systems in place.

we don't want any iteration of the current system, we would mostly like it 100% scrapped and remade into something good
I'd be perfectly happy to go back to the POE1 system where I can just craft maps and use the atlas to decide which league mechanics I do and don't want to engage with.

But that's never going to happen.

The system they have is the system we're going to have. All we can do at this point is try to figure out ways to make it less frustrating and hope that GGG listens.

I wish I could say "its early access, just wait till release" But I know it wont be much different. And you are so very correct, all the systems are so dumbed down a short bus 3rd grader could easily master them in one sitting.

GGG must think we all got into a horrible car accidents and have had to relearn how to chew and swallow food again. It's the only possible situation. Otherwise they would have made at least some parts of the game more complicated than tic tac toe.

For players that never palyed POE 1 its complicated enough.
There are a lot of system to figure out from anoint to delire maps to how in the f wittle actually works. There is a lot of stuff to figure out how it works. And its absolutely not straight forward.

I met so many people that i carried through Breachlord to get their book, they didnt even know how to use it and where.

The game explains basically nothing.

I don't really see much of anybody happy, except people brand new to POE 2 and don't know better yet.

I'm completely unsure why they made every single system in POE be similar, but much worse.

I don't understand why they made Expedition not worth doing.

I don't understand why they made crafting not worth doing.

I don't understand why they made essences not worth doing.

I don't understand why they made Delirium not worth doing.

I don't understand why they made strongboxes not worth doing.

I don't understand why they made the skill tree so bad.

I don't understand why they made the atlas tree so bad.

I don't understand why they made portals so bad.

I don't understand why they made about 99% of this game honestly. It brings absolutely nothing aside from WASD.

Most every bit of content they ported over from POE 1 has been absolutely trashed beyond use. In POE 1 I don't walk by every single mechanic because they are guaranteed worthless -- in POE 2 that is just how you play the game. Skip 90% of content, as it's all not worth even doing.

Most of the systems in this game are so bad we skip them, they aren't even worth interacting with.

6.5k hours in poe1. poe2 just feels so much better. im pretty done with poe1 if they dont fix the gameplay.
GGG picked the mechanics created during PoE's 1 bloat and zoom zoom peak

That was their mistake

They should have completly redesigned them to fit PoE 2's vision

So you got zoom zoom rules in a game that "tries but failed" to slow down the game

The end result is nothing feel good because nothing fits

It takes one person to have a vision, and a team to deliver it

It doesn't work when you try to get a team for people to deliver 2 visions, you gotta pick one and commit to it
I've been playing Phrecia league in POE1, and now that I come back I can safely say POE2 Bad!
I like the way they redid the skills with respect to finding 6 links with the right color combination.

For a filthy casual like me, that aspect of getting an item with the stats right along with the 6 link, along with the colors-- granted yeah there were ways to craft it as such, etc etc. Again, I'd rather be running maps or anything other than spamming currency until it all hit.

Speaking of spamming, I wish orbs of alteration were in the game haha.
