Hexblast 0.2 is by far the worst skill right now
Hi,
the changes to hexblast just killed the gem. the damage got nerfed by alot due to it hits only 3 instead of 9 targets and to make things worse, its only usable when the curse duration is below 50% which is the worst part. not to mention that hitting a curse, thanks ot its delay, is quite annoying by itself. not being able to detonate a blasphemy curse makes this skill useless and clunky as hell to play. whats the idea behind it? without any modifiers the gameplay looks like this: curse casttime: 0,70s curse delay: 1,50s 50% of lowest lvl curse duration (6,2/2) = 3,1s so, 5.3 seconds before you deal ANY damage with skill... No one will ever convince me that this was supposed to be fun. Remember in poe1 you would curse a pack and then blow them up with a follow up spell? Felt great. Remember then getting a nice curse on hit ring and it felt amazing to not have to cast manually anymore with only a small loss in curse power.
In poe2 there is no curse on hit, curses are way less effective, they cast really slowly, they have tiny aoe, they have unfathomable mana costs, they have an activation delay (what the actual fuck) and then they did this to hexblast. |

Has any dev explained why they killed this skill?
It was the only witch skill I enjoyed, and now it's beyond dead. Why? It fits PERFECTLY with Lich, and they fucking killed it? Why? Literally, why? |

You can make curses literally instant with 1 support gem and the curse wheel on the right. It's quite obvious they just wanted to avoid curses being good without investment which is fine. If you plan on spamming curses, get the reduced activation time wheel, it's that simple.
You can also get reduced curse duration AND reduced skill duration AND there's a support gem that reduces duration and makes dots like decaying hex do more damage if you want to cast hexblast more often, but it's quite clear that it's meant to be used on blues and yellows and not for random mobs. |

" Don't forget they had also butchered Blasphemy with 50% less curse magnitude. Easy to keep removing QoL when you are not the one who has to grind it, right Mr.Rogers?:) Last edited by Echothesis#7320 on Apr 6, 2025, 9:09:25 PM

" Nerfed to make sure thee Infernalist Hexblast build never happens. But as a result it hurts the current iteration of Lich chaos spell builds since the absence of a pay off spell is very noticeable as Essence Drain and Contagion really fall off by Act 3, as enemies are much tankier. And you basically end up with nothing but dead spells at that point onwards with the skill gem tree for occult as there is no alternative upgrade to Hexblast. I really looked forward to playing Lich this season but hexblast being gutted and the lack of any real upgrades made for a very weak game play loop. There is literally only 2 chaos spells for the build ED & Contagion but both aren't built to be main skills as they still lack damage even with the earlier game scaling. At the very least I wish it changed the way it worked to better synergize with ED & Contagion if they really wanted to avoid the one shot builds. Like can't it just detonate the ED and Contagion remaining duration or deal damage based on those dots being on the enemy at least that way it remains a pay off for DoT builds. Some real geniuses working on the game. Hexblast, which is only good with super juiced specifically statted gear and EVEN THEN still sucked compared to basically any other build, takes a massive hit because some actual idiot on the team felt like it. Great. Nice vision. This entire patch is garbage but killing hexblast is really telling of how they truly do not know what they're doing.

" You have rupture now from lich which triggers explosions...a slight buff in dps..just to mention |

Hexblast doesn't even work. Enemy cursed (Despair curse skill), hexblast cast pointblank: no effect, tested.

" Because the brainiacs at GGG made it so that hexblast can only detonate curses that are at half of their remaining duration. |
