Let's poll - what are the most important things to fix in POE 2?
" I'd think the problem with the tree is lack of skill diversity -> most people have the same tree. This problem can be fixed either by balancing skill damages, or balancing the skill tree values. First is most likely much more easier. But both balancing acts rely heavily on character data. |

" In poe 1 the balancing and diversity is ok. There are many viable builds and sometimes there are still builds that will be discovered. It took years to get to what we have in poe 1. The sad thing is, that in poe 2 they dropped a lot of that experience and started from zero with totally new skills and mechanics. It can also take years until it feels ok. For some things i dont get it why they changed it entirely, like how ailments work. It was perfectly fine in poe 1. Also the block chance and other stuff. I hope the early access will go for some years, so they have time to fix and balance stuff before the actually release. |

" I'd still advocate for automatic balancing for this, much faster & accurate than manually trying to tweak the skills. GGG can look at the max damage per skill gem per character level, and adjust the skill base damage so, that for each skill the max damage is in the same ballpark for each character level. Naturally, this should only be done when the sample size is big enough. And do note, that the max damage naturally comes from someone who has the best gear & skill tree & support gems for that particular skill gem. If the data from the character sheet isn't accurate enough, they can harvest this data from the gameplay instead. |

Its probably easier to ask what is good about PoE2, then I only have to list a couple of things.
For me practially everthing about it is bad. It's like they hand picked everything that was hated in PoE1 and made a 'game' out of it, specifically going out of their way to make sure NOTHING can be replicated from PoE1, even if it is good or makes sense. Its a complete chore to 'use' (phew..I nearly said play then..). It is devoid of any fun at all. I play PoE2 because :- 1. I love PoE1 and am waiting for the next league (nearly a year) 2. I keep hoping GGG will wake up and meet in the middle and not continue with this Elden Ring arpg on rails for mobile (..its not anything close to D2 in anyway shape or form) I can see Path Of Exile Immortal soon (PoE2). I have come to the conclusion that every drop that occurs in the game has to paid for in real money by the devs. How you can play an arpg and not pick up ONE single item of use in the first 40 levels, I have no words. Having to check the vendor for vendor trash items to use says it all. Always feel under leveled, under geared, under powered. ARPG=LOOT+PROGRESSION=FUN..PoE2 has NONE of this. How any one can apparently test this game and not see the hundreds of glaring issues and thinks "yep that is good to go" is beyond belief. I would like to see :- 1. GGG give us an overview of their testing process, because right now it seems like there is practically none and its just shipped out to us to find out for them. Then they get their backs up when we say its just bad (like the recent dev interviews). 2. I would like to see a GGG DEV day, where the devs stream themselevs play their game through the campaign on stream (on public servers) with classes of our choice (voted). Here is the another thing I can think of to help. Stop sacrificing your PoE1 player community (who are likely the majority of your PoE2 community for now) who supported the game its whole life.1 year since a release for PoE1 (not including that sticking plaster Phrecia). Then at least I will have something to play, with fun, and support GGG with, and not just something I literally have to force myself to 'use'. I wont be playing PoE2 if it releases with its current gameplay design. Its simply the worst arpg experience I have ever played period, and I have played every single arpg that ever existed in public (since before Diablo even existed).I cannot think of one arpg I have ever played that was less fun than PoE2 ?. The graphics are great, the sound is great, the boss designs (not fights) are great, everything BUT the gameplay. One easy win ...start dropping loot, and not GGGs "we increased this 10x", because 10x sweet FA is still sweet FA. Doesnt matter about game speed, movement speed, map size, difficulty, campaign length or anything else. What matters is getting decent loot so you feel your character is progressing, and making your time invested worthwhile and exciting. 40 levels of a lootless arpg slogging through level after level for nothing, is no fun, and no game at all.Its like bringing work home with me. How bad ?, D4 is better, that bad (and thats 5th on my list of current running arpgs) Pains me to say this, as PoE1, for me at least, is the BEST arpg I have ever played, love it (im coming up to 18000 hrs played), its the game I have supported the most of any game I have ever played, but PoE2 , is the worst arpg in terms of actual fun that I have ever played too. Im playing it just out of good will from PoE1 and some belief that GGG will come good.I just have no idea when that will be. Sorry GGG, just saying it like I feel it. |

" **wrong quote yes true some things suck, like no checkpoint when you deli map because the content is never cleared also game loading screen bug and that you don’t see anything and have to restart the game to see everything again and some more minor conveiences Last edited by rxzxr8171#2046 on May 20, 2025, 5:38:01 PM

XP penalty is huge. The game was made significantly harder in 0.2 and we die all the time making leveling at higher levels absolutely impossible.
My standard lvl 95 standard char has been hard stuck despite EXTENSIVE re-specing and research on POEninja. I want to be able to build up to something but I just can't right now. |

" Then you must have tried POE 1 Ruthless, tell everyone how POE 1 ruthless and POE 2 arnt using the same game mechanics. What you describe is exactly Ruthless: Ruthless mode, also known as Hard Mode, is a character creation flag that significantly increases the difficulty and changes the playstyle of the game by opting-in to extreme item scarcity and various other changes. Named after the historical Ruthless difficulty from Closed Beta, it employs item scarcity and shifts of relative item values to simulate the Path of Exile experience in the early days (without the desync). This mode is meant to be intentionally brutally difficult, where reaching higher acts is an achievement, and traditionally weak items are felt as valuable. For example, a player may have difficulty equipping a full set of items by Act 4. Most items found will be normal rarity, and crafting currency will be extremely rare. General game mechanics (From POE Wiki Ruthless) A compounding experience penalty is applied to your character from level 68. Gems gain less experience. GGG need to remove these mechanics developed by Chris P.S

Sorry this Poll is too scattered and GGG will just ignore.
You cant expect any change when players cant even agree what is the most important change. GGG will not change anything unless you can specifically point to a game mechanic that is causing the issue. Saying Passive tree needs changing (wont happen, which mechanic of the tree?, do you know how each node represents a link to a database if not then they will not waste time to look). I point out ruthless mechanics and the exact issue with exp its the compounding exp penalty on characters after a certain level. They still wont listen because even that is not enough. POE 2 seemed like Ruthless would work to them, sorry GGG cant happen, you kicked off the game speed and builds way to close to POE 1, your big nerf wasnt to stop class stacking but you realised crap it should have been like this on day 1, too late. They are a business so paying someone 8hrs a day to look at something they dont think is needed, as a manager i would say no your not doing that. Exp loss needs to stay, sorry its a mechanic that GGG have based both there games on for a very long time (i dont like it either). But players only really care because the grind back doesnt seem worth it, so they go play something else not hard to figure out. Im level 97 when i get to level 98 im going to another game for a month and then come back to get level 99 because its such a drag, but i love playing this game. So ill do the only unhealthy option leave and comeback like an abused person. Shouldnt need to be like this, i shouldnt want to leave when wanting to max level. This is POE 2 last 3 levels. Edit: sorry people too sensitive now, deleted Daily rant over Time to grind 5% over 6hours..... Aside from any techical issues, I think some form of more determined outcomes. Farming specific monsters for example, Or even equipment sets.
A sense of achievment as oppose to impossible item mods and constant dissapointment and punishing negative rng. |
