Please revert/tone down item pickup/interact priority

When i first read it, i thought it would be great, but it turns out its incredibly annoying, cant use my skills properly 90% of the time because there always is random item/chest in the huge radius it has. I keep dying surrounded by mobs bcs my character is picking up some helmet instead of fighting for their life.

It is fine to be left like that for big interactions (like essences/legion) or npcs, but the priority for random items needs to go.

After all, most of the times i want to pick items up or talk to npcs i have cleared the mobs surrounding the zone, previous version was way better.

Agreed. I actually stopped mapping any skills to the A button for this reason.
Hard disagree, at least on the idea of reverting the change.

There was another thread about this.

Two main takeaways:

1) Try playing the game without a skill on X (for PS, but you know which button I mean on XBox). The game is just better with no skill bound to this button. There's always glitchy or weird interactions when you have skills on X. GGG fixes them every league, and new ones pop up, every league.

2) They should add a toggle in the options for this setting, because some people (like me) very much want to keep it, while others don't want it.

Im not oblivious to that choice, but i dont think "just lose 1/4 of your main skills" is a great solution to a problem that didnt even exist last month. And out of the 4, X is the one that is normally used more for common interactions.

I have played for years with stuff bound to X and it hasnt been a problem 99% of the time. Im glad you enjoy your gameplay with 3 skills but i had to try that in ToTa and it absolutely did not make the game better for me, it was just a lesser problem than the totem channeling bug.

Other leagues issues (every league is an exaggeration, happens sometimes but not every league) are normally confined to the league mechanic itself, sometimes those are minor and get fixed on 2 days (settlers verisium ore interaction), absolute worst case scenario: its a major issues like ToTa totem interaction, but even then its a) an unintended malfunction b) specific to the league mechanic only. I cant even think of more examples besides those 2.

This priority change isnt a bug to get fixed, its expected behaviour and it affects the whole game, not only a small fraction of it during the first 3 days.

Before this, if i wanted to pick an item i would just kill the pack of monsters, i wasnt gonna stop to check items in the middle of a fight anyway.

On the other hand, if im in the middle of a pack i dont exactly have the spare time to pick 3 items from the ground before attackig.

Even if i wanted to pick items while surrounded, before i could just use left joystick to change priority focus to items/interactables, so we did have options to achieve everything.

As of now i only have two realistic options (toggling item filter every 2 seconds with how clunky it is doesnt count as an option):

-Completely change the way one usually plays the game, avoiding ground items like the plague and occasionally dying to it anyways.

-Hinder myself to having 3 main skills instead of 4, only to achieve a level of gameplay i already had before this change anway.

Honestly, the new priority system might me slightly better on some cases, but they are heavily outweighted by the numerous instances where its not only a minor inconvenience, but a major issue.

If they decide to add a toggle im all for it, doesnt hurt anyone.

If you're only using the "main" buttons for skills, you're already hindering yourself more than this change ever could.

You know you can assign 2 more "bars" worth of skills, right?

AND, now that Reservations don't turn off when you die, there's no real need to have them assigned to buttons at all. You can turn them all on (or off) from the skill assignment quick menu by just hovering them in the selection list and pushing square without assigning them to a button.

You can also solve a LOT of this by using a customizable controller (some of this can be done through the accessibility settings on your console, but the best comes from buying a different controller; unfortunately, they are very expensive).
OFC im not using only those 4, those are just the ones that can be used easily, hence the use of "main".

No one is actually using the R2 L2 slots for skills, because breaking the fingers is not something anyone would desire (except when the auras were turned off when you die, even today I have these on either slot just to make sure something is not off). Take for example the caster mastery for each non-instant spell cast. You need to have space for these, so 3/4 is not enough. One slot for travel skill and you are down to 2/4. You cannot just go and say - well, dont use that button. It was never a bug to be fixed. Improvement clearly isnt improvement for the majority of players.

Suggesting to buy a specific controller or spending time in accessibility settings is ridiculous for a problem that never existed in the first place. We just want this to be reverted to its previous state. As I mentioned in my own post for this - its way easier to play with a main skill on X and travel on square as this is your thumb which is resting on these two buttons.

For the people that would say "i never used X for a skill before" fine, you play your way but why cripple others who actually put something in that slot and are used to that for years?

Actually, lots of players do.

I could ask you the inverse question.

Why do you want to take away the new thing I like that they just added?

Obviously we're never going to agree on this.
