I tried PoE 1 and now i understand the "vision" better....
So i started PoE1 yesterday and got to act9 today. What i remember from the campaign... alot of blasts on the screen and monsters screaming and squeeking. My characters goes around the screen like a maniac and everything melts. Nothing to remember. No meaningful combat.
I kinda get it but really dont. Most of the time i felt like im in a hurry.. many time i laughed.. not because i was having so much fun but because playing the game felt ridiculous. The longer i played, the faster it got and the more i started to understand why the developers had the vision to make PoE2 have meaningful combat and slower pace. I dont have ADHD but after playing PoE1 i feel like i have it. There was really no enjoyment in the combat at all. I hope they make PoE2 much slower than it is now and stick in their "vision"... I am glad that people who like fast pace have their game and sequel can be totally different kind of game. No hate, just an opinion. After all these years the game looks and plays good. Just not a game for me. Last bumped on Jun 19, 2025, 10:42:46 AM

its not speed
its efficiency PoE1 is about max efficiency. everything points toward making your time as meaningful as possible. That is the goal .. Which is why it is intolerable for many PoE1 players to play PoE2 because the obvious time wasting strategies ... It will never fly like that. |

" There is nothing wrong with a skill based game. The vision is fine. Only problem is the game needs to be well balanced to actually be skill based. | |
A balance between POE 1 and the purest "vision" will land POE2 in a great spot. I have no doubt that the devs will find the balance in considerably less time than it took for them to dial in POE 1. I already like where it is at, currently, although that comes with some expectations for future content and future changes.
I also like POE1 but for very different reasons. For my tastes, it is nowhere near as good as POE2 but is a great game to relax on the couch with, especially since my shit laptop can actually run it. The passive tree is much less restrained, but it's to the point where "passive" is kind of a misnomer, with how powerful a lot of the nodes are. I doubt POE2 will live in its shadow for long Last edited by Glowie_Zigger#5018 on Jun 17, 2025, 9:13:34 PM

I was sold on PoE2 almost the second I played it. The combat feels smooth and engaging, and is far superior to its predecessor in every way. On PoE 1 you're basically a lawnmower and the monsters are grass. The only challenge was boss fights or ridiculous map mods, which were more annoying to me then fun. The boss fights on PoE 2 are also a lot more enjoyable. I actually look forward to them, unlike on PoE 1 where they were a thing of dread.
PoE 2 also has controller support, which may be the best thing about it. I'm not very good with a keyboard, and point and click mouse movement just doesn't cut it on action games. PoE 1 has more variety and content, but PoE2 will have that eventually. So I agree with your prediction that PoE 2 will eventually shine its light over PoE 1 (it already has for many of us). That being said; they need to fix their server issues. I'm having insane lag and disconnects tonight. |

" I am so glad someone else understands. Bro, you should see how mad the first game could be. Just look up ward loop or 5 way rota and you will understand my frustration with the first game's bs even better. I like PoE 2's combat so much better, even at the late end game. PoE 2 > PoE 1 for me. After playing PoE 2, I just don't want to go back to PoE 1. Probably that will not change. After 8 years of PoE 1, it is time for me to say good bye to it... Forever! Heh, when 3.26 came out I thought it would be a week or two before some posts like this started popping up, and I guess I was right on the money.
Hopefully the fact that people have PoE 1 leagues coming out regularly to satisfy their need for zoomies will mean that GGG can keep power creep out of PoE 2 without people flipping out too much. Lightning spear clearly needs a nerf; the whole concept of combos doesn't really work with a skill that clears screens on its own. It would be the perfect thing for shocking enemies so you could hit them with primal strikes or elemental sundering, but everything is dead as soon as you use it. |

" Yep. This is pretty much as bad as spark was and has to change for sure. Bugged and op bs meta slaving has to be rooted out of this game ASAP. Usually better balance solves this issue pretty well. HC SSF. What else? Ruthless when?
