I just ran my first temporal chains map

"

Luckily I don't have to run temp chains. I also don't have to run any content in don't like.

EXACTLY. Temp chains is annoying, but unless I get it on a waystone with either xp gain or crazy rare/quant I just don't run them... Just like burning ground. Not that big of a deal.

Someday maybe we'll be able to reforge T15s and the temp chain maps I have will get used up there..
What makes it so bad imo is it slows action speed in addition to movement speed. It's just too easy getting overwhelmed. Hard to get out of it once caught in it unless the build is otherwise not really affected by slows. You either have a hard counter for it or it's too difficult / inconvenient.

Yep I hear ya. I think that's pretty fair though, some builds can't run some mods. I remember back in the day they had monsters reflect a % of damage they take. I have often steered away from making zoomy builds and I remember the outcry on the forums from people loading into maps and one-shot killing themselves because they didn't take the time to read the modifiers on the map.

Normal people won't "outcry", they uninstall, do chargeback. It seems you are the 0.1% who loves to be tortured. Congrats.

Posts like this only exist because the game is still too easy. As the game gets harder, people will long for the day temp chains was the worst thing they had to deal with.

PS: Chargeback after you played enough hours to get to serious mods on waystones? Good way to get in trouble with your card issuer.

Stuff like temporal chains doesn't add fun challenge, it adds tedious frustrating challenge. I doubt most the people complaining would have any problem with a more challenging game that did it in a fun and engaging way.

I pumped concrete for 15 years. I wouldn't mind showing up to a job site that had a challenging setup and forced me to think. What I didn't want was to show up to a job with dogshit all over the ground challenging me to watch my every step

Stuff like the 40% temporal chain reminds me when I was trolling my cousins when I was a kid because they didn't have a nintendo.

So the deal was, I let you play megaman on the nintendo, but with added difficulty.

The added difficulty was the following, and I'm not joking:

1. Throwing random stuff, like clothing on his face whilst playing.
2. Unplugging the gamepad for 3 seconds
3. Shutting down the TV for 3 seconds.
4. Randomly yelling

He agreed to these terms because he didnt have a choice and couldnt play otherwise. Was I evil for doing this? Absolutely. I still find it funny to this day even though it was very cruel and I would never do something like that today to someone in some sort of vulnerable spot. His parent were broke, they were broke and instead of letting him enjoy it a little I trolled him, it's on me.

Now let's go back to GGG. They're that evil kid but they never grew up and still do it as adults. Or maybe the devs were trolled as kids by someone like me, and they decided to make the player base suffer for what they went through.

you can use charms on those maps... but I also agree that 40%, 20 seconds and the area could be reduced like 30%, 10 seconds and 30% less area

Whoa that is evil. I think Johnathan did the same thing but never grew out of it
You're right in the sense that Time of Need is a great counter to any type of curse, temporal chains included.

Respectfully though, I believe you're incorrect in saying that temporal chains isn't that bad. It's actually horrible. And no, no one is forced to run temporal chains waystones, but that's not the issue. Late game, waystone overflow is more than enough to avoid a lot of dangerous modifiers. But that's the keyword, dangerous. In other words, challenging, adding difficulty. Temporal chains seems more designed to be anti-fun than it is difficult or challenging. Why implement a mechanic that's so blatantly unfun that the overwhelming majority of players despise?

Edit: And to clarify, I don't care one way or the other if temporal chains stays or goes. I just won't run maps with it, it's a simple solution. But I still think it's reasonable for players to be disgruntled by the fact that it's even there in the first place. Kinda makes you scratch your head and wonder, what's the goal here exactly?

I didn't say to ignore anybody, I just decided to add my opinion to the forums. I think one of the challenges when it comes to developing a game is deciding when it's time to give in to the backlash (like for example when people review bomb on steam) and when to stay strong. I want GGG to stay strong on making sure POE 2 remains slower paced than POE 1.
