Why is there such a HUGE discrepancy between BUY and SELL on the currency exchange.

It is just absurd.
BUY and SELL should meet in the middle.

for example.
Buying opalescent oil costs me 49 c
Selling opalescent oil yields me 22 c

putting up anything in between is pointless, it just sits in the faustus tabs for days.

no wonder people still use the old encumbersome way of trading manually.
then again, what did i expect from GGG. They can hardly get anything right.
This could be the greatest game ever, but alas it is not.
There is so much wrong, from a QOL point of view. the list is endless.

This is probalby the last league i am bothering with. I've given up hope they will improve anything in the near future.

This is the price when you want to have something/sell sth instantaneously. It keeps the trade going if you don't want to wait, thsoe are offers other players inserted already. You can make your own offer obv and usually get a better price if you can wait a couple of minutes/hours or to the next day when you are online again, that is just the nature of trade nothing wrong with it^^

Usually it is best to not bother and value your time honestly.
Some people think they are very smart, but in the end they spend way to much time in their HO. Why would you play a game like that if you don't want to slay monsters? So faster buy/sell = more slaying monsters. But of course some things are better traded via trade site or you wait for a better price with an offer, if they are worth like 1,x div and you want to sell them in multiples, because obv you do not want to sell something worth 1,3 div for 1 div just because it's fast^^

I listed both ways 1c above/below and it sold almost instantly:

The difference in pricing happens because:
- This specific item has low demand.
- Limited availability.
- Gold cost when bulk-selling.
- Flipping.

It's funny how people blame GGG for whatever reason. Even if GGG have no relation to the problem at all. "There is a rain outside - it's GGG fault" :D.

You see such huge discrepancy, because
some people selling opalescant for 49c+
and some people buying opalescant for 22c-

But it reality prices above is stale prices, noone buying opalescant for 49+, because it too much, and noone selling opalescent for 22-, because it too low. Real trades go between those range. I.e. when i sell opalescent for 45c, people will insta buy it, and you don't see those offers.

So, if you trying to buy, put offer for ~25c, to become first from lower range. And you will buy it eventually. Don't buy for 49c.

Same for selling, sell for ~45c, to become first from upper range.

Why are you blaming GGG for this?

The prices listed are dictated by the players, just like the manual ones. Blame them for grossly devaluing items you want to sell, they're the cheapskates wanting to buy low and sell high.

This, except flipping. More flippers = smaller buy/sell margins. This should be encouraged.

No idea why that happens, I just sell my stuff for the price he says and don't think too hard about it. Its probably just people trying to abuse this system and scam, but I honestly don't care. As soon as we get a full-on AH with Faustus including equippable items and every other item in the game then the trade site will be taken offline and everyone will have to use Faustus. Then the prices will be normal, but until then imma scam myself daily just to use the convenience of Faustus because I am never touching this awful trade site in my life unless I absolutely have to for a unique item. Whispering 50 people who never respond is not fun.

Honestly stuff like flipping and all these kinds of things shouldn't even be allowed like its so unfair that people get to generate infinity currency by flipping all day, they should just do set prices on all currencies and call it a day. At least then divines would never grow to insane prices lol
