Why is there such a HUGE discrepancy between BUY and SELL on the currency exchange.

I would always pay the upfront cost from faustus if its still in reasonable range. I can go farm instantly afterwards and make more currency in the same time while I would wait someone responding for my trade request.

Honestly stuff like flipping and all these kinds of things shouldn't even be allowed like its so unfair that people get to generate infinity currency by flipping all day, they should just do set prices on all currencies and call it a day. At least then divines would never grow to insane prices lol

It's called an open market for a reason. If there were "set prices" or "Set conversion rates" than we might as well go to act 3 and exchange currencies via the vendors.

Becoming more knowledgeable about the market, the trends in builds, how a league matures, all will help in making more profits over time. Or you can be one those "idc lol faustus just sell it" people too, that's the beauty of an open market.

No idea why that happens, I just sell my stuff for the price he says and don't think too hard about it. Its probably just people trying to abuse this system and scam, but I honestly don't care. As soon as we get a full-on AH with Faustus including equippable items and every other item in the game then the trade site will be taken offline and everyone will have to use Faustus. Then the prices will be normal, but until then imma scam myself daily just to use the convenience of Faustus because I am never touching this awful trade site in my life unless I absolutely have to for a unique item. Whispering 50 people who never respond is not fun.

The Currency Exchange has been a godsend in removing the tedium of trading for a huge bulk of game content. I would gladly pay a premium or earn less if it means spending a fraction of the time it would've taken me to list an item to sell, or message 10+ people before finally getting an invite.

The moment we get maps, bases, invitations, jewels, etc. added to this system, the game will be one step closer towards perfection.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

The orders in the currency exchange are orders placed by players. The price discrepancy is flippers who try to buy low and sell high.

I personally switch them to check the buy and sell price manually before I sell anything, and that only takes 1.5 seconds. The currency exchange could just show you both the buy and sell prices simultaneously. I think that'd be an easy QoL change, but the current system is fine if you put in the few extra clicks.

It already does that, just press Alt while hovering the ratio.

Yep, can't wait for them to add more stuff like maps and other non-stackable things to it. Faustus is the best thing that has ever happened to this game and they should just go all-in on improving this system.

I keep hearing this, and it's incorrect. Ordinary flipping actually makes the margins smaller - say the buy/sell prices are at 30c and 40c. So in order to flip quickly and effectively you buy them at 31c, then sell them at 39c. This provides a quick turnaround. Rinse and repeat, and you're a flipper.

This has multiple benefits, such as:
- Providing liquidity for players looking to sell quickly
- Raising the price that those players get for their items
- Lowering the price for players looking to buy quickly

What you're thinking of is likely market manipulation or price gouging, where you buy out the supply and raise the prices. However, referring to this as "flipping" is like saying "shoppers" when you mean "shoplifters".
