I found kind of a temporary workaround. I ran into this issue myself today, so I was experimenting with a ton of different things, but what I thought of was the Skeleton Cleric. He heals, but through regeneration. So because I'm near the top of the tree, I actually took the node that reduces life regeneration by 75% for enemies in your presence. And it does indeed work at stopping as much regeneration. He became so much easier, and I was able to kill him because he only regenerates like a centimeter worth of health with that node. If you're close to him.

Hope that helps people out!

It's a mechanic designed to teach players they need something in their toolbelt to deal with enemy health recovery - you found a way to solve the puzzle!

This is not a temporary solution - you need to fight this boss duo in the endgame atlas as well, and it also works there as a solution. This also helps in many scenarios where other bosses/rares might recover HP in other ways.

Most people choose to overcome this sort of problem indirectly with high damage, which can become an issue when you start doing zones with mods that give enemies more life, and you less damage. It's better to address it head-on, as you have with this node, as it is more reliable and always works, even if it means "number go down".

I get that part, its just that he is not supported to keep healing after you defeat the sister from what I have seen. Defeat her so she stops the self healing, then defeat him as he isn't able to heal off her anymore.

No it was not. That's copium. If the boss fight were a puzzle, then players would be given tools to solve them. We aren't. Consider stun and aliment threshold, Every part of the passive tree has access to both of those and almost always pretty early. However only one part of the tree has anything to do with enemy life regeneration.

It's a badly balanced boss. The game is a slot machine not a puzzle (if you treat it as a puzzle, you'll be disappointed over and over again). The devs just try to put cool & fun stuff in to keep you pulling the crank. Sometimes they miss the mark. This boss is one of those times.

Confirmed this just happened for me - Zolin healed infinitely after she was dead.

20-30 minutes deep in the fight, I paused the game and ended up here.
It's still happening. Zolin continues to heal himself frequently after his sister stops fighting (she's not dead, just exhausted I guess). Sometimes every other action he takes is healing, which can quickly bring him right back to 100%.

Taking damage does not stop Zolin from healing, but stuns work.

It appears the healing can be interrupted by walking through the very dark red wavy beam, but only if you can get there fast enough. It's not enough to be standing in the way. You actually have to move across it, and it's a very quick heal over about two seconds, so in practice you can only cancel around half of it. If you're ranged, forget about it.

To top it all off, Zolin's "Quachic Maneuver" means he can blink to the other side of the arena and sometimes initiate a full "Loyal Transfusion" before you can intercede.

I have done this fight with five other typical dps builds that had enough burst to overcome the healing. This time I was running a tanky, moderate dps build. I could easily absorb everything in this fight except for a full dose of the giant chaos beams from the altar, but it always turned into an endless loop.

I spent about two hours revamping my dps to burn Zolin down. There was no accessible skill for me to suppress his healing. I could get Zolin to around 30%-40%, then he would heal up to 60%-70%, back and forth, back and forth. Eventually, I think I just got lucky during an attempt where Zolin just forgot to heal himself while he was down (thanks to RNGesus?). A full stun may have helped.

But... I mean, come on now, this is a bug! Once I take Zellina down to 1 health, that should be the end of Zolin's vampire healing. I don't get a truly bottomless life flask, neither should the boss.
