It All Just Feels Miserable ... Why?

0.3 is the first update I have given an honest attempt to play. I know it's not that many hours in PoE terms but I have 175 hours in the 0.3 update.

Usually I bounce before finishing ACT I out of frustration.

To me a relative noob and inexperience player it feels like everything in this game is designed around make the player experience MISERABLE! Like mentally GGG made PoE2 as a GIANT troll job to the players

Everything is designed to run you over relentlessly and kick you in the teeth afterwards. What a wonderful vision.

- packs of mobs that run faster than the new sprint speed
- mobs that can still kill you after they die
- GGG essentially not explaining how crafting works beyond "right click currency, click on item ... PROFIT" great new player experience
- experience lose on death, an archaic ARPG troupe that should be left in the past.
- since GGG doesn't explain crafting you end up doing the very boring and repetitive endgame for currency drops to buy your upgrades instead of finding gear that can become upgrades.
- Movement speed is ridiculously mandatory that any boots you find without are immediately trash
- same for Item Rarity if you don't have it maxed out you are intentionally holding yourself back
- The thought of EVER doing the campaign again (and it's NOT EVEN FINISHED yet) makes me think more about the next game to play instead of ever DOING THAT AGAIN
- I ran the entire campaign without a loot filter 'cause the drops were so subpar, uninspiring and so few there was no need for a loot filter.
- EXAMPLE I picked up and saved every ring that dropped in the campaign for a grand total of 51 dropped in the entire campaign and interludes. Outside the first two rares that dropped for me in ACT I all other upgrades were bought not dropped.

- So many visual explosions and obstructions on screen I rarely have any idea what The enemies or even I am doing ultimately. I just have to assume I am killing things since items drop on the ground but I couldn't tell what is going on at all.

- After reaching maps my game crashes at minimum every other map I do at BEST.

- I am playing a minion build and at times my minions just stop doing anything. They just follow me but don't attack. I have to unequip my minion skill and re-equip them for them to start attacking again. Happens way too often.

- my gear says I have +30% movement speed yet my character sheet says I have +26.1% movement speed. Is there an invisible penalty somewhere? Is GGG intentionally hiding information and how things work from players. If so WHY?!

Those are they things at the top of my mind that annoy me the most right now.

Why do I keep play, FOMO. I paid for early access now I feel like I have wasted my money if I don't. If this was free to play from the start I would have bounced again in 0.3 before finishing the campaign.

They want us to figure it out on our own. That's how POE 1 is, they've never told us MANY many details over the years by design.

They want US to figure it out, they do not want to guide us whatsoever. that's why POE 2 holds you hand so hard -- but not hand holding enough for some :)

FOMO ought really to consider your spent time, as well. The money you paid is gone. Don't waste time you still have playing a game that makes you miserable. ='[.]'=

You've said a lot of "conventional wisdom" that is IMO just wrong, but I'll focus on this one point. Melee gap close is much faster than 30% movement speed -- and it's better when you are hitting a rare that teleports, because you teleport on top of it and keep hitting it, automatically. I specced my Ice Strike (+7 to melee reach) with Reaching Strike (+2 to melee reach) and I just click into the middle of mobs, beat on them, and if I get in trouble, I click on one of the outside stragglers I moved past initially to get me instantly out of reach of the group. No movement speed on boots at all, and I probably move faster than you do.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

This game is knowledge intensive and there's a big difference between the knowers and non-knowers. For example, just now I join a leech party and gain about 12 to 15 levels but I die all the time in the maps during the leeching.

I am unable to figure out how come the other players in the party are so tanky and do so much damage.

I think you will need to have a PhD and to nolife the game in order to play the game better.

TQ2 teaches lessons about how should story created. Literally touches hour heart. Here we have stronger and better fight elements but this by own can't bring game to hall of fame. All the awesome games past 2-3 decades related to a perfect combination between story and fighting mode and added also luck and crafting to a good balance without making people feel time loosers.

Im dissaponted from Poe2. Im still playing it becouse hope dies last ...

You might be the only player in the world who came to PoE 2 hoping for a great story, xd.

I think it’s great to skip all the story nonsense.

Elden Ring did that really well too — just start the game and go.

No need for endless conversations, cutscenes, and walls of text to slog through.
Fuck that, tbh — I want to play, not watch a movie or read a book.
If I wanted that, I’d leave my PC and do that instead.

So yea, I don`t agree at all that "good games need a good story".
They don`t xd
Idk a lot of what you said isn’t even true

A pack of mobs does not move faster than sprint speed
Mash the clean
Because they decided to slow the game tremendously for the player while keeping monsters at POE1 levels of speed and damage,so instead of feeling "strong" your just regaining lost power.

Also combos suck.
