Waystone drop rate is terrible

SSF

Lol. You can't play the endgame without maps. I assume the Gs want you to play the game... soooo this is then the most BASE requirement... having a map.

Plus if you lose them in progression, don't get more in progression... run out of purchased... you start over? Uh.

Its incoherently stupid.

Dori sells infinite maps for a level you've beaten. Done. Just need gold.

Well, now you can buy infinite 15s and roll them- no you can't, you need chaos, which was likely already the limiter- or whatever other currency that was the limiter.

I don't care, we just should never run out of maps. Even if you're dying non-stop, its far better for the Gs that you are playing the game.

If you're having fun dying and can maintain the gold, who cares.

I've ran into this, posted about this. Even just having to go take care of something and coming back later you can lose a map.

Another HUGE consideration for this- is when you actually feel like TRYING THINGS with your character. Got an idea? Want to swap around some passives and try some shit? Then you get wrecked a whole bunch and tweak tweak tweak. Thats fun.

However you lose your maps and then start over... LOL. Going to the highest last zone in the campaign and farming for a level 1 map is real cool. People are going to keep playing that game... 90s NOT.

Get real, this doesn't require thought- this is common sense. These are the types of things that I'm 0_o about.

That's a perfect description for this. I've even tried to play "devil's advocate" and think of a reason for heavily restricting waystones, but I can't. There are already so many ways players are punished when they die.

This is an excellent point I didn't even think of, but you're totally right! It didn't even dawn on me that I'm experiencing this right now. I want to experiment more with different passives, but I'm afraid to change anything. I love playing ranger. I always choose the archer class when I play ARPG's, but I'd like to try something other than the same LA Deadeye that every build guide uses. But when I have a TWO waystone buffer, I could easily deplete my waystones if I go with something less optimal. It actually discourages experimentation and build diversity.

You're probably the only one suffering from waystone drop issue. Before I finished with the season I had 50+ t15s and that's after few hours spent bulk selling, reforging and so on. Tablets (specifically ritual) is another story but waystone drop rate isn't doesn't need any fixing. Literally just kill a boss, or hunt down all elites, last one will drop waystones

“Before I finished with the season” - you likely farmed those in 0.3

I think the issue OP is describing is something that came with 0.31 when they re-worked endgame. I’m seeing the exact same issue, waystone drop rates feel much worse in 0.31 vs. 0.3

It’s just enough to tread water, but not enough to get a surplus to Vaal. You likely wouldn’t notice this if you already had a healthy stockpile from playing 0.3 when 0.31 dropped.

Adding my vote to this. Waystone drop rate is indeed abysmal as compared to before and should be looked into

If you spec on atlas passives for Strong Boxes, and run about 10 maps, you will have a lot more waystones, then you can spec back for whatever you like.

At least for me this did it, I ran some with strongbox passives, and got every other map at least one box full of waystones. After I got enough I specced back.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a try.
I do T15's and have a quad stash full of waystones that I occasionally sell for pennies on my merchant. I'm literally overflowing with waystones. I saw a bunch of T15's on trade for 1 ex. I sympathise with your problem but I assure you it's not one everyone experiences. Maybe some tiers are stingier than others.
Just my 5 cents, but your filter is ok?

You should get one from the boss and if you kill all rares, second one. Strong boxes are pretty good for waystones too.

After 0.3.1, the boss seems to drop a waystone about 70% of the time. I'm making maybe 1.5 waystones per fully cleared map. (Not counting cart strongboxes.)

It's ok, but 0.3.0 had a much higher drop rate. I agree with a poster above that it isn't enough to comfortably experiment. I haven't tried speccing into strongboxes yet; that sounded like a good idea.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.
