Poe2 on linux?

cachyos with cachy proton support runs soooooo much better its not even a question if it runs better....but alas.. i went back to win 11 for the quality of life things with various apps.-.maybe if i get a third drive and dual booting os's works better i will reinstall cachy os..but i got my windows 11 dialed in and multistreaming at 1440 p with no lag/stutter so im fine ATM
oh yeah i agree. it runs great on cachy. i use the proton customized by the cachy group. i accidentally booted into windows last week and thought wtf is this??
i've been streaming on cachy as well @ 1440p. it works quite well. too bad linux doesn't support many of the plug-ins that windows does.
Nvidia 580.105.08 drivers are out. streamed two hours yesterday, everything seems to run just fine.

tangentially related. anyone know how to use LACT to under volt a video card? can you explain it to me like i'm 5 years old? i've looked at several websites and "documention" but it doesn't make any sense to me.

out of curiosity i installed the stand alone client. it seems to run fine with wine. i didn't do anything at all. simply ran the downloader and started the game exe.
for reference i'm running cachyos with nvidia gpu and intel cpu

I attempted the same thing as you haha. I was running POE2 on Arch without a compatibility layer just fine! Then GGG released a patch that caused the entire game to stutter every couple seconds. Tried correcting it with various troubleshooting steps within Steam, POE2, and Arch itself. No luck.

Switched back to Windows are there was no more stuttering. Maybe you'll have more luck on Mint but I had to switch back to Windows for now.

Few weeks later running fine on Arch again. Using Proton Experimental compatibility layer. Arch Kernel version 6.17.6

thanks for the replies, i didn't bought the steam version, i bough it directly from the site on poe2's launch day.

already installed mint, definitely not going back to windows.

i think i have to install wine to play poe2

You can apply your non-Steam early access to steam. There's a key in your profile page.

PoE 2 runs near perfect in Mint under Steam with a few easy tweaks. Go look at Proton DB for more help.

As a side note, PoB2 runs perfectly in Bottles.
Just use Windows 11. Don't buy in to all the hate. Been using it for ages and it's great. You will find many annoying things on Linux that you need to fix or cannot fix. Makes Windows feel soo good after.

I think we found Satya Nadella's PoE account guys.

I'm not going to say anything about Windows or Linux. A flame war will derail this thread with everyone throwing in their 2-cents about why their opinion is right and your opinion is wrong when it comes to what OS is better than another. You could even have this happen just within the Linux ecosystem. People prefer different OS's for many reasons.

I think it's more useful to stay on topic of PoE & Linux in general in an OS-agnostic manner for people who might land here looking for insights about whether the game can be run on Linux based OS's or not.

Alright, no need to get dramatic about it. I wasn’t trying to launch an OS holy war. People can use whatever works for them. Let’s just keep the thread on PoE on Linux so it stays helpful.

Yeah, Win11 using nearly half (14GB) of my RAM because... reasons I guess is really great and feels so good. Native windows apps running better on linux because windows is so shit is also great and feels so good! You can't hate Windows enough and you absolutely should buy into all the hate.

Though, there ARE many annoying things with linux due to compatibility with windows only programs. That is sadly true. And that won't change anytime soon considering most people would probably keep using windows even if it becomes 10 times as bad as it is now simply because it's windows and everyone uses windows :/
