" But I do choose where I live, not born but live. And if you say to people that experience something bad or negative in playing a game that is supposed to be fun, to go do something else or stop playing. Do you want dev to adopt this way of thinking? Ignore any problems and just tell players to deal with it or quit? If so then I hope you don’t have the same attitude with living in real life, like quitting before trying to make a change or speak out your mind. |

^another attempted strawman and misrepresentation. I'm not engaging anymore lest I risk headache and rabbit holing.

Listening to the ARPG community is how you get D4.
Never listen to the ARPG community. |

" K good day to you then, it’s funny you can assume OP is burned out or switching to do something else after spending lots of time or even money to support the game won’t cost anything, but the moment someone do to you it’s strawman. Compare to OP 3k hours you can call me a tourist, and no I won’t return to a place with unfixed shitty garbage filled place that the authority refused to fix or even regconized the problem. Just like more than other 90% players have chosen. |

you are not "doing" anything to me.....that is not what a strawman is.
Using an obvious non-comparison that shares none of the details or aspects that the OP nor I mentioned.....is what a strawman is. It warrants no discussion because it is preemptively designed to specifically not ALLOW discussion, by being wholly and completely incompatible. A strawman argument is specifically given to shut down any possibility of meaningful conversation, before it even occurs. And that's what you have presented in response to my post. If you want to compare literal LIFE problems, with self-determined leisure CHOICE problems......do so with someone else. I'm not going to take the bait. Try to insult me as much as you'd like. Frankly, it doesn't matter to me how much or how little you have played the game: I'm not judging you on any merit other than your obvious strawman bait. For me, playing PoE is not the same as paying rent, finding a place to live near where I work, working within my budget to determine the best place I can live, dealing with real life problems I have no control over and no way to avoid. Maybe it is for you....that would be quite unique. PoE is a video game. PoE is what I do when I have free time. I also don't spend 8+ hours everyday on this as I don't HAVE that much free time. But you can bet I've been burned out on far less. Even ACTUAL worklife is not 8+ hours everyday, 7 days a week, 0 days off. I think its a pretty safe statement to say that the OP is suffering from burnout. And that the sudden distaste for 1-portal is merely just the latest form his burnout has taken. If he truly felt the way he described in the OP about this particular mechanic....there is just absolutely no way 2900 hours in 9 months would happen. This mechanic is not something you just "happen across" every now and then: it is central to the ENTIRE endgame that he has spent the vast majority of those 2900 hours doing. There isn't a player alive that would put in those statistics doing something they actively find, using his own words, "weary, awful, tiring" and most important here "NOT FUN". 2900 hours, 8+ hours a day average, 9-10 months straight, leisure activity in his free time, and NOT FUN. It's simply not a true statement: it can't be. That describes someone unhappy with their chosen or potentially "forced" profession that they HAVE to do for a living, with no choice. It cannot possibly describe truthfully something specifically only done, only in existence for, and only meant to BE.....fun. If you try something in your leisure time and you don't like it, you don't devote a third of your entire life to it by choice. The one-portal annoys the OP when it affects him negatively. But that's the point...that's why it exists: it is a punishment. Same can be said of not dropping a divine in a given play period. That doesn't translate to bad design....otherwise he would have stopped playing. But his EXTREME distaste for it now is because the negatives are exponentially increased thanks to burnout. " Man that’s a lot of text for a “you do you”. But I’ll entertain you if you are that willing. First, here a simple explaination of what is a strawman fallacy from chatgpt 1. Person A makes an argument. 2. Person B misrepresents that argument into something easier to attack. 3. Person B refutes the misrepresentation and claims victory. What I did is called a metaphor which is not perfect but at least similar in principle for OP’s arguments. But what you did in your first reply to this thread is exactly strawman by the definition above. You made lots of assumption about OP just from statement that he had played a 3k hours. How do you know he’s burned out? Streamers of this game play 8hours plus daily, are they also burned out then? And why GGG listened to lots of them, even featured one of them on the official website ( the zizaran guy), Is GGG being a fool for not knowing better then? But I digresed. Because your argument basically is: you played a obscently amount of time, thus you are burned out , therefore you are not in a good state of mind, so all your arguments regarding about the game is invalid. If you can’t see the irony of calling me using strawman while you attached an attribute from a conclusion you pulled out of thin air and then made OP appear silly and not worth considering, then Ima head out. |
