OK so leveling is over lol

Leveling is only for Meta builds bro, get over it.

All good guys, I uninstalled :)
I'm surprised anybody even attempts to defend the XP loss mechanic. I guess you might say I'm a "casual" player who just wants to slowly level up and watch my character get more powerful without all the stress. Like I said, having the game be difficult and dying on a regular basis is fine -- just without the punishment. Last Epoch actually offers this, but I got bored with it after a while because the campaign story needs some work. This is a better game. But I'll revisit them in a year or so to see how things have developed. I won't be revisiting POE though. But more power to those of you who are enjoying the challenge. |

i think the xp loss punishment should get lower the higher the level you achieve but it has to stay to offer players the challenge/motivation not to die every single map.
If you die 5 times in a t7 waystone you deserve the punshment and need to tune the build, if you die once in a t15 juiced waystone you shouldnt be punished like it was a t7. |

If you want to offer players motivation not to die every map, just have the map completely respawn all enemies if you die. The challenge is for you to actually complete the map.
Let the players keep their XP. |

" Thats not giving motivation lol |
|
" Motivation is the +1 passive nodes that you get with leveling. If not leveling you can't experiment further... Motivation is to kill a difficult boss after many deaths and get quality rewards. If you get shit then why trying again? Motivation is to try Recombinator mashine for something good and despite the low chances, tries should be unlimited. Right now materials are almost less than Div drops. Motivation is to unlock new maps to see new content and proceed further to story. Right now there is no curiosity in Endgame. Boring and repeating content destroys motivation. |

" Yeah the passive point you get by killing stuff, not by dying hundreds of times because you refuse to get better or get your build to the next level. This way you can play the most stupid build with minimal effort and still get your skill points, where's the motivation there?? Kinda agree on quality loot but i got to say when you kill t16 map bosses or pinnacles your build is most likely done and you only want divines, chaos, annulment and such, exceptional bases to buy/sell/craft min maxed gears for your build. You need a setup for each so dont pretend to make lootxplosion with an average build. The recombinator with infinite attempts doesnt make much sense and if you want to recombine only T1s you gonna fail everytime. try to play smart and grab a T1 and something lower like T3. Do not expect 10/10 successes, it doesnt work like that. Mats to use recombinator arent an issue but if you mean crafting materials then i 100% agree but they have nothing to do with recomb. As for mapping i could agree with that, thats why when i max the atlas trees i level up another character or take a break. Last edited by IILU81II#8410 on Nov 8, 2025, 4:21:08 AM

I leveled up this character to lvl96 in about 5 days. Doing Delirious T15 maps from about lvl80 to lvl96. Stopped now as it's too much of a time sink past lvl96.
Zero deaths: https://imgur.com/a/8LkCdvo PoB: https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/11620 However I guess many builds can't get this amount of defense. Chrono ES recoup is pretty good if you stack it, compared to most other things. |

" ES on its own is kind of bad. I made a build with 11k ES and no CI a week ago. It just falls over to mobs like It That Hates (breach mob). Also without recoup stacking you're always just a second away from death even with CI. As the game currently is, in juiced maps: - you need insane recovery to avoid getting swarmed and dying - and/or insane dps to kill everything from far away before they can do anything All other options are kind of not viable. Though you can do non-juiced maps with most builds up to lvl95 or so. |
