The campaign is WAY too long

I love poe 2, I want nothing more than to make multiple characters and grind the endgame.

But I'm very sad because leveling a new character takes SO long,
Is GGG trying to punish players for exploring builds and playstyles?
Why would they do this, it doesn't make them money doing this so why?

I understand that they put in a lot of effort and made a great campaign and world, but please GGG, the vast majority of players do not want to level a character for this long.

Its actually kind of depressing because I love the game but I can't explore other characters without destroying my life over it

let me know your thoughts, ty for reading

Oh no, you have to play the game.
Very much agree with OP.

I'll probably do act 1 this season just because I'm curious about the druid & that's a reasonable self contained story that's about as much repeat content as I'm prepared to put up with.

But the campaign is worthy of being a single player game unto itself.

And I don't repeat play single player games.

I didn't like when they slowed down the Poe1 campaign, and the Poe2 campaign is just too much - I don't foresee myself being prepared to play a seasonal game with that much required foreplay involved.
The campaign is way too long. Everyone but the most deluded of GGG glazers knows this.

Starting from act two the maps are massive and some have multiple levels for literally no reason. You could cut a large chunk of this out and it'd still feel too long.

It picks up a bit in Act 4 but then the Interludes are annoying again.

yep its very long and feels like a game that should only be played once.

perhaps a compromise would be to allow the campaign to be skipped on your 2nd character.

I have exactly opposite feeling - campaign is too short and it's over too quickly. Can't wait for more acts.

I hear you and remember there are still 2 more acts before release left. Not counting they may even add more over time. Looking forward to them to play a few times. After a few times it gets old to a lot of people. That is why in my earlier post I offered a few suggestions to make it so people who want to stream line it can and those who want the full thing every time can play that way as well. It is a win win that helps give everyone what they want without removing content or forcing those who cant stand stuff like get off the train at halani gates to talk just to get back on instantly. Like story wise, makes sense but doing it 20+ times is just annoying and waste of time.
Most likely when new Acts come out, some of the older Act areas get merged together and made smaller. One obvious candidate is the Act 2 Juggernaut that is two areas instead of one for some reason. Same goes for Act 1 manor with its 3 floors and the bone pits in Act 2.

GGG did this with PoE 1 multiple times. Example there used to be an additional beach area full of tar zombies between the ghost ship area and Merveil's cave back in early access. And Act 3 Gardens used to have a separate Hedge Maze area too.

You already notice theres a couple too many areas in PoE 2 campaign right now because you tend to overlevel the content of the last 3 Acts by 3-4 levels even if you didn't intend to do so.
campaign 3x longer than it should be. my friend wanted to try on free weekend.. 2nd time. He wanted to continue his first character from the previous free weekend. He is still lvl 24. Thats why ggg cannot lure casual players.
No the campaign duration is perfect. If you want an arpg with no campaign challenge go play Diablo 4. Endgame in POE 2 has better taste once you have accomplished this wonderful campaign. It’s an extra ball. A season is 4 months (120 days), if you hit endgame in the first day what is the interest ? Try HC it’s a really valuable challenge and the progression with this large campaign is super juicy. I really hope GGG will never listen to you.
