Best stormweaver build is bow build. Sorc is dead class...

Sorc had a misfortune of being the first class in 0.1 nerf scope. People immediately discovered spark and 10 comet per sec trigger loop. GGG immediately wiped EVERY keystone and gem related to original forms of those builds, and nerfed freeze as well. Because you know, "meaningful combat".
This had led to net overnerf and collateral damage to "normal" sorc builds. These days GGG no longer pretends poe2 is so different from poe1, and new zoom builds are ignored. While sorc remains trash. Infusions need too much micro you don't have in simulacrum or breachstone. Also infusions horribly limit potential spell roles, something other classes don't have. |

Sorceress does feel worse than in 0.3 definitely. Especially in the campaign when all the s*** barely works. Infusion mechanic was a f****n mistake. Restrictive piece of design which forces you to play by the rules. Wanna fullfil your fantasy playing one element? Too bad buddy you gonna deal no damage unless you not doing some weird shenanigans with your build and having insanely expensive gear.

I'm doing arc stormweaver right now. It took a long time but I got it rolling and I'm doing full juice T15s without too much issue, though my boss atlas is not maxed out yet since I'm a slow casual.
I think the ascendency in general just needs a lot of work. They could even just hotfix it so Elemental Storm actually does any damage, or applies statuses - or really does anything. Even stacking 3 on top of each other with a full 5 link skill does basically nothing. Yeah it will kill a white mob in like 3 seconds but I can just right click to arc the entire screen instead so what is this spell even doing? The infusion nodes on the ascendency are terrible and are mostly designed around multi-element builds and there's very little for mono element. The node that spawns an infusion 3 seconds later after you collect it is hilarious. Maybe arguably useful for boss fights but realistically in 99% of a good mapping build you'll be long gone after 3 seconds. Spells in general have a fatal weakness which is the level of the skill is your ultimate damage delimiter. This means while a deadeye/pathfinder can basically jump from interludes to T10 maps right away, you won't be able to do that cause you'll need to level up in order to apply higher level skill gems to actually crank up the damage - meaning you'll spend more time in lower tier maps just grinding out XP. I love the fantasy of spell casting and the visuals are great but we need some serious tweaks to the entire system because with melee also having huge disadvantages ranged martial weapons are simply going to continue to dominate league start by a very large margin. One final issue with my build is I simply have no room to slot in very much magic find. Maybe with thousands of divs I could find a way but it's not really happening. " Infusions sounded cool except, like most things in the game, it ended up not being rewarding you for using them but punishing you for not using them. I really think infusions should just make you "infused" for x amount of time and all spells you cast with that infusion are infused instead of them stacking up. Yes this would be strong but spells need some power IMO. |

" Infusions are not useless for the specific skill arc lightning which is actually pretty good i use it as primary clearing on my lvl 96 stormeaver i gets 200% more dmg and my arc actually reaches 300k dmg so its not useless but its kinda annyoing to play around cuz even with siphon elements on max, you have 7% chance to spawn a infusion. And sometimes you just dont get any and it feels bad cuz of rng like most of the game. Arcane surge is not useless my build is arc archmage mana remnants siphon elements and arcane surge is needed for mana regeneration. I need the node because i have very low crit chance in the build for mana regeneration and other things for suvivability. Its actually pretty decent build but meta builds like ice wolf is definitely faster and better. Im clearing like max juiced t15 maps pretty easily on solo. Im at 85% mana before life which is pretty ideal for my build which actually makes the node quite important to get the last 20% on top if the jewel and the 50% from the unique bodyarmour. Shock is not thaat bad on caster but bad with lightning conduit which has been nerfed to be kinda terrible. I just stopped using it and spammed arc instead. So i hope if ggg sees this not to nerf arc because its cool asf and feels good, and instead raises lightning conduit a bit so its actually useful. I also use elemental limits to stack orb of storms to generate max infusions when i need some especially bossfights its pretty useful. But yeah dmg and speed is a bit lacking especially on bosses because of the lightning conduit nerf i think. Im doing everything i can to get boss dmg i got a 300 div staff wirh max lightning dmg and sigil on it elemental weakness curse and arc stacked up to 300k but still struggle on some beefy bosses 😭 |

" I'm also doing arc - no one seems to use it but I actually find the Voltaic staff's lightning attack very strong and fast at single target. I just stack up lightning orbs then spam the lightning bolt it seems to do well on bosses. Still not top meta speed or anything. My build is doing crit chance stacking, pinpoint critical, and using Maligaro's bracers. The room to fit resists and rarity is very tight, not sure if your setup would work with the voltaic staff but just a thought idk lol. Basically I arc to clear, then orb + lightning bolt to single target. Last edited by Weaver#3527 on Jan 5, 2026, 11:04:17 AM

The infusion system made Elemental casters rather boring.
There are too many skills with only one combination which heavily restricts what you can throw together. If majority of skills had 3 different outcomes than it wouldn't feel as restricted. Also both Blood Mage and Infernalist are better =D It just takes Infernalist till around level 80 to manage Grinning Immolation. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

" Some spells can chug infusions, so they're not useless beyond one. My 0.3.x cold sorc build spammed Frost Darts between Frost Bombs on bosses, and the extra infusions and extra limit made me generate excess infusions beyond my cast speed (which is very high for Frost Darts). So right there is two of your supposed "useless" points because Limit doesn't impact just storms, it impacts limits on things like Frost Bomb, too. Permanent Arcane Surge saves you a bunch of affixes on gear, and you don't even have to look at some paths on the tree that would assure permanent uptime without it, so you save passives as well. Extra Shocks and Extra Chills + Extra Damage per ailment on enemies = significant damage bonus if you synergize it well with the rest of your build. Sorry, but your problem with the class is an inability to think outside the box. Is Sorc OP or "meta"? Why do you care? Play what's fun. Stop living your life based on what others are doing. A well built Sorc can do all content, that's all that matters. Last edited by Polantaris#1920 on Jan 5, 2026, 1:12:14 PM
