Next PoE league: Please consider making the campaign optional!

"
PoE 1 has a smooth fast campaign, and it has pretty amazing power curve, which makes the endgame gameplay a lot more enjoyable.

It was exciting when Fall of Oriath first came out, doing the new 10 acts for the first time.

Its not very exciting doing it for the 500th time, I can't even practice it once without feeling burned out.

If it’s true that you’ve only ever played 1 character per league, then you’ve probably gone through the campaign about 30 times total. Even if we’re being generous and count events as well, that only brings the number up to maybe 60 runs, not 500.

And yeah, hardcore91 is right. The campaign is already pretty smooth and can be finished fairly quickly. If after 60 runs it still feels like it takes too long, then maybe the issue isn’t the campaign itself.

Practicing, learning the fundamentals, and actually understanding the campaign makes a huge difference. Once you do, you can just cruise through it at league start and breeze through it again on alt characters in the same league without any major trouble.

One of the fundamental shifts to do that will cut the runtime by half in certain cases - is to run past monsters, don't attack them. I used to attack everything that ended up on my screen and wondered how my campaign runs are 7 hours long even with giga twinked gear, like mageblood equipped from act 5 onward.

You don't have to fight every pack, it's counterproductive. Blue packs and rares yes, they give lots of exp. But white mobs? nah, they're skippable.

Agreed, this is one of the easiest optimizations anyone can make to achieve much faster times. Getting familiar with the layouts you struggle with most is the next step, followed by attempting a more optimized route. All three of these are things virtually everyone can do with little to no cost, and they work wonders.

Well I'm a completionist, I also do all the tutorial missions for Einhar,Alva and every expedition I see in campaign too. And I do the tutorial Heist Contract, so I can unlock all the icons for these areas on my map by the end of campaign.

I'm not gonna change how I play games just to go faster lol, campaign has just gotten boring.

You won't get any faster at this point
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

The campaign is genuinely fast, but if you choose to play it in the slowest possible way and refuse to adapt, learn and improve, then the boredom you feel is entirely self inflicted. Complaining about it after making that choice doesn’t make it a campaign issue, it’s simply how you choose to approach the game.

I enjoy the campaign.

I enjoy the campaign.

No one is arguing for the removal of the campaign, only that it be made optional. You would still be free to play the campaign and others would be free to level in more enjoyable ways.
