What happens when you die to Vagan in Hardcore?

hi there.

just found vagan in battlefront, begun combat, and lost. with a character from "beyond" league. got resurected, finished the combat, "won", and ... still in "beyond" league.

level 37, normal difficulty. vagan level 2.

so similar to PVP to me :o

hope it's not a bug :o

in fact, my character is a duelist bow, with more ER than armor, something that's not smart against vagan who often use RT.
he landed a hit on me, and I began to lose life at a massive rate (something along the line of bleeding while moving, but I don't remember seeing the "bleeding" icon). spammed my potions to no effect, died, and immediately rose again (without any action on my part) to continue the combat. I finally won (wasn't difficult, just that the first hit vagan landed on me caused me to lose health very quickly), and everything continued as if nothing happened.
