The problem I have with traps is that they one shot basically anything. It would be okay if I had to step on 3 or 4 of them to die. The fact that ONE misstep causes me to go from full health to nothing, is ridiculous. The damage is just far too much.

In games that are larger like capture the flag it is impossible to know where traps are because they could have been placed before you even got there. People can just camp the flag with traps and kill anything that comes close.

I've tried a lot of ways to counter traps and nothing seems to work well at all. I'd really love to hear from someone who was successful at countering a trapper.

Exactly, the trade off between limited traps + a trap/mine lay cooldown really pays for itself in the damage department. You're talking about a 1hit kill invisible attack that ignores block chance, limits movement and can be thrown across the screen ..in most cases all of these apply. 5seconds of immunity to damage taken is excessive. Clever construction needs to do nothing but cover the time it takes to plant a mine or throw a trap so its not instantly destroyed. Once its on the floor, its fair game. 2Seconds is a reasonable number and this keystone needs to be re thought out. At the moment people can drop traps/mines and have what seems like days to attack you with other attacks,throw traps at you and move around before you can even clear the trap they first laid down. Without CC traps/mines are shit against experienced players and we all know this. Then on the other end of the spectrum CC at 5seconds is far too excessive.

I remember when I used to play dota, goblin techies mines were good, good enough to wipe out the entire enemy team if done right but the map was big so you just put them on choke/key points.

I think there should be some sort of "true sight" in a form of gear, skill (invisible true sight totem?) Or something. Clones also has alot of potential.
Another thing about bow trappers specifically is that even with them using traps, that isn't the only thing they can use. They still have their bow puncture that they can shoot at you or even tornado shot. To me it feels like they have nothing to sacrifice. They even can get tons of health and still have huge amounts of damage output. And on top of all that, the regen nodes for life flasks. It makes it almost impossible to kill a ranger who is specced into that because they can pot and be full health and stay there even when I'm beating on them.

Ya that's what I was referring to when I said 5sec CC seems like it lasts for days. They have tons of time to shoot at you while their traps are still fully immune. Lowering CC time a few seconds wont hurt pure trappers nor destroy the utility of traps in general imo. Its needed, just not like it is.
