Enki's Arc Witch Memorial Page & POE 2 Arc Summary
" Ah this was something I guess I wasn't clear on understanding. So in order to run 4 you will need Devouring Diadem... I'm only 56 at the moment and am currently unable to even run the 3 Auras altogether... Is this something that will come as I progress? Currently have been running with Discipline + Zealotry. Thanks in advance. |

" Probably run with Zealotry, Flash and Stone and Clarity (if u didnt changed for Eldritch Battery yet). Discipline you get in the place of clarity and just after u get Eldritch and the aura cluster node. |

" Gotcha... I've been running whilst doing just Zealots + Disc. Going to try and go with the 3 you've said. I've got the Aura Cluster Node already but not yet Eldritch Battery. |

Currently as I'm levelling (just hit maps) I'm running Flesh and Stone 25% (in Sand stance of course), Herald of Thunder 25% and Skitterbots supported by Infernal Legion 46% (percentages are the base mana reservation before reduction nodes are calculated).
I've got about 200 mana left over and can spam Arc for a lengthy time before it becomes an issue so the set up is pretty descent. Would dropping Skitterbots and Herald of Thunder for Zealotry be an improvement on my damage though at this point? Does the consecrated ground do much for us in taking down tougher enemies? The shock and chill effect from Skitterbots is a good damage boost for me right now. If I was to drop Skitterbots and Herald of Thunder, wouldn't Wrath be a better damage boost for us? Obviously once we have the Diadem I would run both Zealotry and Wrath. Edit: Did some experimenting myself. Zealotry seemed lack lustre compared to Skitterbots or Wrath. I ran Flesh and Stone and Wrath for a while quite happily. Once I had some more reduced mana I also put Herald of Thunder back in alongside Wrath and damage seems OK. I didn't really see a lot of benefit from the Consecrated Ground generated by Zealotry against bosses so I'm still not seeing why this is recommended in the build? How come we max CWTD, isn't it better to keep it 1 for the lower threshold on activation for Steelskin?
| |
" Because if CWDT is low level then Steelskin has to be too, which means it absorbs next to nothing damage wise. You really only need it for the big hits, not all the time otherwise you could get caught out with the cool down. So max it out for the best survivability. |

Hi,
Anyone can explain the math behind 43% of ES as a life pool for me. I'm very curious about this. Thanks guys and thanks Enki for the awesome guide! |

Hi,
I'm really still very new to the game - I've played only once before, almost 1.5-2 years ago, and didn't try endgame before RL made me quit once again. Tried this new season and got my character up to level 73 as of writing this post. I guess my question is more about the general principles of the game as to how can I actually get the high end mats to buy a staff (currently using 2x wands), 5/6 link armor, and other upgrades. I have only 21 chaos orbs that I've found while slowly levelling through the acts (I was 71 when I finished Act 10... please don't judge). Almost all the good gear is going for 25-50 chaos each, which seems to be dropping like flies for most players.. but I can't seem to get them too easily. I'll try doing basic maps today to start using the vendor chaos orb recipe to start. If anyone can take a look at my character to tell me what I should upgrade after weapon (staff with 5 link) - I would truly appreciate it. I cannot even get the "switch character" to show my league character either :( Sorry for asking noob/stupid questions... still do appreciate all help! <3 |

" OK, time to test my math and logic skills :) Let's say we have 5000 life. Adding 43% Energy Shield (that would be 2,150 ES) then gives us a total effective survival pool of 7,150. If we suddenly take 7,150 points of damage after all our mitigation (like elemental resists, armour, etc) then 30% of that will be taken from our ES pool before the rest goes to life. 30% of 7,150 is 2,145 which is almost how much ES we added and the rest of the damage goes to our life pool. In this situation, that would be 5005 damage and poof, we're dead! More ES wouldn't have prevented this as it only absorbs 30% of damage so we need to be careful to balance our total life and ES together. If we took 7,100 points of damage, we would be near death but still alive. Think of our setup as a three stage process. We take Eldritch Battery so we can reserve all our mana for damage and defence and as a consequence our ES protects our mana instead of life. Then we take Mind Over Matter so that 30% of damage comes from our ES rather than our reserved Mana. Lastly we use Zealots Oath to have our life regen refill our ES which is constantly depleted because we use it for our skills. It's just a convoluted/clever way of getting around having no mana left for skills. Because of that it's important to realise that Eldritch Batter has us spend ES before mana for Skill costs. So if you have too low an ES pool, you might be depleted due to using skills and you won't have enough for MOM to properly defend you. Hence, Enki states we want at least 43% of our life as ES, because the extra will let us spend ES on skills while maintaining our Defence. TL:DR version It's the relativity of percentages. 100 plus 50% = 150 150 less 50% = 75 |
