Was Malachai evil?

Seems like the kind of board people would troll anyway.

Anyway, the jackasses have been tame, at least in this thread. Let's have hope.

are there even jackasses here? see silliness at most.

Spoiler
did I miss another thread?

Anyway, regarding malachai I dunno if I would call him evil. He did have... a way to convince people, but maligaro always seemed more evil to me with his experiments.
but then it seems maligaro kinda worked for malachai so... hmm, Im sure act 4 will answer a bit more about this.

Ambition

what is evil anyway? alignment-wise, Id say he was either chaotic neutral or neutral evil. (hope Im not mixing things up too much, almost 5 am, just going to sleep)

He won't appear as an ally. If you don't want spoilers don't ask how I know, but it is 100% certain he won't be an ally.

such a thing would require a voicebot implementation that automatically starts to read the thread out,
so that the readers of this lore can walk away and listen to deathsounds of monsterslaying while hearing the threads and telling stories on their streams or chatting with others over Teamspeak.

Malachai could be a well intentioned extremist all along. Maybe ending thaumaturgy would come at a great cost.

Also, he could be like Griffith in Berserk; a fairly amoral person that goes totally evil after taking contact with eldritch abominations.

You get some extra points for bringing up Berserk.

Comic #4 clearly answers that question.

Victario witnesses the cataclysm in Sarn, and Malachai apperars to him, mocking him and revealing that the Purity Rebellion placed Malachai exactly where he wanted to be.
A sword he brought, his foes to maim and rend,
from places dark behind forbidden doors,
But night by night he woke with frighten'd roars
from darkest dreams, too strange to comprehend.

Malachai may be derived from malachite, a mineral believed to have magical properties. As the incarnation of magic by itself, I think it(and he) is a kind of true neutral, though utterly unhuman.

Perfidy is the blood that quickens Wraeclastian thought. At best, the players on the stage can be considered Machiavellian, at worst they view the world as Sade did. Malachai is not the prime mover in this demonic fugue, but he is far more than just a harbinger too. I suspect we will discover over time that Malachai was both catalyst and lightning rod for the Nightmare.
