I want to be completely clear - our security has not been breached. If our database had been compromised, the accounts that attackers would target first would be the most wealthy players, the high profile streamers or the developers. Imagine how much it'd be worth to compromise my account? Kripparrian's? The top people on the ladder? These people have not lost their passwords. There has been a 0% rate of developer accounts being accessed by overseas IPs. The accounts that are being targeted are generally mid-low playing accounts, typically associated with the usage of hack software. We often have users write into support complaining about side effects of their maphacks, only to later report the same day that their items have been stolen. It is worth pointing out that these hack programs are bannable, and while we haven't yet done a banwave, the thousands of people who use them will lose their accounts due to it if they are still running them as we turn on our countermeasures.

I found that whole idea insulting.. I donated money to be a silver member.. never used any ridiculous hacking software, any bot, nothing that would ruin the game experience in any way.

But was still hacked.

but thanks for grouping me into those.. appreciate it.

Since the trojan detected,is very similar the other versions of McRat,its a strong indicator that this one also have some of the old ones, skills and goals.
All the last versions of this infection,
steals youre personal info etc from youre pc.

"
Information stealing
The trojan collects the following information:

operating system version
CPU information
computer name
user name
passwords

Im afraid during the last 2-3 weeks, alot of ppl got this.
Facebook, browsergames, casinos etc etc uses java alot, and 1 click at a bad link, and the damage is done.
Also, theres a small chance for even detect it.

Im not an expert on this topic,
but finds it strange that the hackraids have been going on in the exact same time as this "troyan" was found on a software 99.9% of pc,s got installed.
Price increases is inflation yesterday. Money printing is inflation today. Deficit spending is inflation tomorrow

What you dumbass don't seem to understand is that Chris didn't say that everyone who got hacked used hacks.

Hmm.. my sarcasm detector blinks yellow.
It would be nice to keep this thread at a civil level and to stay away from name-calling. Keep the conversation constructive.

I work in IT and I am an educated user. I know for a fact now that the breach wasn't caused by my actions. Yet, my account was hacked and stripped. I don't expect to get an answer or reparation but I would like to point out that anyone could become a target at this point until the issue is resolved.

I know some of you would love to blame the user's ignorance and carelessness to feel more secure, but tough cookies, that's not the way things are.
Hello, i just wanted to add to all the previous commennts made that i have been hacked also two times..same thing with a friend of mine(4 times),i believe that i didnt do anything to cause a hack such as illegal programs, same password with other games, log in to "phising" sites etc. so i believe it is a big problem which is not caused only from us the players but the game needs really to upgrade its security.i really hope that measures will be taken soon to avoid hacks in the future cause it can really hurt the game if this consists, with gamers lose their items/their time eventually.like many others here i believe, i dont want to accuse anyone but reveal the importance of the problem so it is fixed in order to be able to play :)

Please stop posting, you're contributing nothing. And, those who have been compromised so far have been calm, and civil about it. Far beyond people like yourself using slander and childish banter.

I find it extremely odd ITT, that people like you seem more angry than actual people who've lost everything.

You're only enforcing the point, that, the people who are getting hacked are winning this debate. GGG is no match for the veteran Blizzard hackers, and rather leave their player base to the wolves.

It's not a good business decision.

After getting home my account in fact got locked and nothing was touched. I don't understand if in fact your account got locked but yet your account got stripped. Do you use the same password for your e-mail address linked to your PoE account?
