Hacked Accounts

I should point out that this policy encourages gold farmers and hackers instead of deterring them. There's already a half dozen websites I know of that are selling orbs, and if they know players cannot recover from hacks all it is going to do is encourage them to do it more and sell the orbs for higher amounts of money.

I have so many games and different accounts on my computer, yet funnily enough with a unique password to PoE. Only my PoE was compromised, this really makes absolutely zero sense I've scanned my pc and theres nothing malicious on my computer, I've never used a third party program, or done anything stupid or made a mistake.

I wouldn't be so angry if I was the person at fault here, but we're being swept under the rug with PR nonsense.

I'd like a response to why only PoE got hacked and absolutely nothing else when I have so many different game accounts on here that far out weigh the value of the PoE account, nothing was ever logged onto anything else, I checked all my games after this to make sure it wasn't me. However it's just PoE and my email was my login is my primary email, thankfully it had a different password to PoE so it wasn't hacked.

I can't wait for when someone has to take responsibility there's a bit too much noise being made on the forums for this to get swept under the rug and dismissed as people 'using cheats' and having it backfire.

Within 12hours. 6 attempts have been made to log into game client from another computer. I get that they are not actually getting on successfully, meaning that email would have been ganked too. It's seems that you get kick off to screen when they merely click 'login' regardless if they know your pass, in order to troll the players while they're in-game.

Before I suspected ex-friends of mine were hacking me, I gave one my email some time ago, and mentioned I play PoE. Then I changed emails just and passes, using keepass. Hours go by and I haven't played, I check email a few times to see if I get the account notification when logged from different location.
Then about 20 minutes ago I logged back on. In Shore camp for a few, went to Hailrake killed him, logged out because no scrolls. And then tried to get back on, sadly it happened again..

So very strange, not the only one ya?

I have one comp only to play Poe (other is used for all the rest).
Because of nature of my workand my personal paranoia I use hardware high security firewall,
I have multiple mail acconts only for games (never used anywhere) and I use encyption everywhere, specialist security programs, scramblers and so on. I even encouraged some hired hacker to brake in and he couldn't.
So well... just admit GGG - you have massive security breach here...

There has definitely been a breach. I just had my account hacked without even touching this game in over a month. Nothing about my PC has changed.

So, if I've read things right, I won't be able to get my lost items back? As a supporter to this game and I would continue to do so, I would like some support back...

WTF? Some one tried to log in on my account, that persons ip is in China. I just got an e-mail of GGG that my account is locked. There must be a breach.

Amen. I was a supporter in Beta and was actually about a week away from dropping another $20 into the game.

I'd wish every and each company that need you to log in would have measures like GGG, so ppl would finaly see how many of their accounts are actualy compromised.

why should some1 who has your email do something that encourages you to change your PW? do you think they leave a message saying "Hello, i was here. Get another password."

I don't say most of those hacked type in their infos everywhere just for the fun of it. but phishing sites realy get better and if you don't look real close, well ... you haven't even noticed.

I'm not saying it's impossible for GGG getting hacked but their database is well secured and encrypted so in 99% of all cases you can be quite certain that you just haven't paid enough attention or used your e-mail / password somewhere else, where this info was stored in plain text (or weak encrypted).

to add something:

everyone should check the java version he/she is using.
i BET most users here still have java 6 or even earlier.

also ALL adobe software should be up to date (tbh. all software in general but those 2 are crucial!)
