It blows my mind how little business sense most of the forum posters have. Tencent is the majority owner in some of the most popular games in the world. All of which offer MTX for cosmetics and user enjoyment and none of which are required to be competitive except for maybe clash of clans. These games are thriving and have been thriving for years. Tencent knows that P2W models drive players away, which in turn loses them profit. If PoE fails or becomes P2W it will be because the devs didn’t do enough to keep players interested and the lack of players led Tencent to do what any investment company would do...suck the last few dollars out of the game and shit it down. The game is healthy and fun, you all need to relax, it’s not going to go pay2win. The only change I could see coming would be some type of league pass that grants good cosmetics based on completion (similar to fortnite battle pass). Let’s refrain from hitting the panic button just yet.
Don’t expect to get rational responses. All you will get presenting logic like this is negative Nancy’s yelling “the sky is falling”. Usually these people are miserable in their lives and just like to complain. Misery loves company
I should know better already but people are obnoxious with how they latch on to stereotypes and stigmas about business practices. I think people were under the impression that all their supporter packs were going to a few dudes in a tiny closet. People like to make money. Enjoy the game while it’s fun. Support if you want to or put zero dollars into it. It will die eventually because all games do at some point. I’d hate to see what these people would do with a real crisis.

If all games failed that Tencent acquired, then they obviously wouldn’t be near as successful as they are. They are very successful for a reason

Sorry, but I really don't believe it will not affect the game. Maybe not in a month, but in years to come. Truly a sad day, a big company swallowed another small fish.

"Invested" in GGG. LOL, they bought your ass, that's more than just an investment. Hopefully the game doesn't take a nosedive for it. Good luck, I'll keep my credit card in my pocket for the immediate future until i see where this game is headed with our new chinese overlords

Except they don't own a majority in any relevent game besides LoL and everyone will tell you what a shitfest that became when they took over.

I wish I could be hopeful, I've put a lot of time and money into this game. I love it.
Do NOT let them take away what you have created. By any means, this game has kept me out of the darkness for years.
