Let me preface by saying, this is a company to make money...it was never a secret. I have been happy to support because I have had lots of fun and many hours of entertainment. I want the company to continue to make money if I continue to have fun in the future. So i will continue to support they game i love (as long as I still enjoy it)

but

I like the part where he posts they dont interfere in the game, and then goes to say they "may" have some "special requirements/requests" for the Chinese version. And then follows up with how those changes may make it here.

I am glad your team made its $$$. I will still play this game a ton as long as its fun. But you opened up with double talk.

Your release statement has told us that they will not interfere, and they will probably interfere on the same page.....

And saying it would only hit international if its "super cool"...cmon. You are trying to say if any changes implemented the Chinese market turns out profitable wont come here if you don't like it? Are you trying to throw wool over our eyes? or have not been able to pull yours off already.

The acquisition is fine as long as the game is fine. And I hope, and predict it will be.

But in the end....the founders of GGG are no longer own/run the game PathOfExile. They are now just employees who work for a company which does. They will do what they are told.

For smaller companies, any ownership position that holds less than 50% of the outstanding voting shares is deemed to be an NCI.

Tencent do not own any voting shares. But they can put pressure on GGG if their income decides to dry up out of the blue because people don't understand that goodwill won't last forever, as observed in this case. Most people seem eager to bite the hand that fed them rather than remain cautiously optimistic about the future, which disappoints me. At this point I don't care if they shut down the forums and become completely opaque to their player base, because I think most of you lot have earned the cold shoulder for your continued poor treatment of GGG and their staff. And chillingly, I wouldn't blame them for it one little bit.

My future $ would go to China?

I appreciate the transparency but there is no way I'm funding some Chinese firm.

All of you who ever supported GGG are the suckers.

You thought they (GGG) were in it to make a fun game. Nope.

They were in it for the big score, all along. Make that $$$$.

They could do it one of two ways:

1) Continue to hope, pray and beg every month (every week?) for all of the player base to continue to buy MTXs, packs, etc. Rinse, repeat ad nauseum.

2) Sell out one time, for some serious coin. Problems solved. Family fortunes cemented.

Now ask yourself, which would you do?

I fully support, and congratulate, GGG for selling out - that's the ultimate goal since day 1.

Any of you who think or believe otherwise is living in fantasy land. That ain't how the real world (tm) works.

Enjoy the new tax brackets GGG - you earned em! :)

POE is a fun game. What are you talking about???
So I may get hired by a big Corp that will put me in a much better financial position. But I better not or else my coworkers will accuse me of selling out. LMAO
To all negative people here making such a rant, I don't even know where to start...

You're so damn wrong about everything, and either you're not genuinely honest against Chris and his crew (you don't wish them all the best), you envy them or you simply don't know how the world works.

First of all, you should congratulate Chris and his team for such achievement instead of showing your bad attitude.

Usually, when you start a small business/(co)company with your own investment, that's your ultimate business goal to sell out shares once you already have a good quality product/service, you mean something on the market and it's worth way more than you started a business. That's how you make real money and this is a success not a failure, mark my words. If such opportunity shows up, you would be completely out of your mind to not consider it at least.

How come can you blame GGG? It's beyoned any common sense and it's completely premature, it's their product, it's their decision who they decided to sell the majority of shares, it was not easy to go from startup to where they are now, believe me, most of you would give up after one week, they just earned that with hard work. You may not agree that Tencent should be that company, but they know what's best for them, you can't simply know that. If that was best for them, I can only wish them best of luck an say congratz!

Now a bit about you (and me) spending money on supporter packs etc. If you say "I won't buy supporter pack anymore beacuse I'm angry that Tencent bought majority of shares", then you're such a permature person. Where's your common sense? It's fanaticism and let me tell you, it's bad not good thing, it has nothing to do with wishing your beloved POE and GGG all the best etc. At the end you're buying/supporting the product for god sake. Most of you didn't even know who and how many shares owned before, what if you didn't like Rory (it's just example, forgive me Rory :)), and he would own 70% of shares, would you behave the same way?

Just because they sold out shares, it does not mean they don't need funding anymore. Product is still for free, who do you think will be funding the game in the upcomming days, months, years? I'll tell you that money earned from selling shares usually is not the money that is used to fund another years of work, unless Chris and other staff who sold out their own shares want to invest back into GGG. Maybe Tencent will invest into game apart from buying out shares? As an employee who owns some shares, you would rather spend that money on your private/personal things rather than investing that money back into the company, after all that's the whole purpose of it. Their business model won't change as far as I'm concerned, it still will be the same. Of course, time will tell, and I'm sure they will be also transparent about that.

There's a lot more to tell, but I'm not gonna write 5k lines novel here, just to make my point. I advise you all to calm down and take a break.

Guys, chill. Tencent saw an investment opportunity in a profitable company.

They put money in for development, marketing, etc. and they get a revenue. It would be very stupid to buy a profitable company, and change everything which made it profitable in the first place.

Now GGG can invest more time into developing and less time into looking for money.
Happy to see this . I thought activision or microsoft will do this .Now its better tencent will be better than those with their league of legend experience , that will help alot , also evolution of Poe always reminds me League of legends' early days , nice choice GGG

Also don't get all those KKona " my $$$ wont go a chinese company " comments , hey KKona 7 you can't decide that , you can't escape from facts .
There are billions company in earth which working with chinese companies , look every feature in your house or work all made in china or something related to china , so your arrogant ignorant arguement is make no sense :D even twitch/amazon related with them just adapt to your timeline and let it go .

I, for one, don't care about tencent or the drama.
I just care about one thing at the moment, and that is THIS suggestion:

scratch that, they still have to look for money because these ingrates don't understand that Chris doesn't have money trees growing in his backyard.

Goodwill of a community as support doesn't last forever, as shown by this disgusting set of knee jerk reactions by the majority of the player base.

At this point I don't care if Chris Wilson responds with a naked pic of him giving the finger to everybody here, because that's what this community earned, not transparency, or having its so-called concerns addressed.

If people don't know how business 101 works, shut up please and wait for incursion to arrive.

I guess you don't understand how it works. People want to buy supporter packs because it helped out GGG who made the game and we wanted to show our support to them, now when we buy supporter packs a huge majority of that money goes to a Chinese company who were NOT the developers of the game and because of this a lot of people will stop buying supporter packs and once Tencent see's they're not making profit they will make changes, same thing happened in countless other games owned by Chinese companies investing into other regions, they may say one thing but as soon as they're losing money they drop the hammer.
