free unlimited respec on passive skill (or a sandboxed Free Unlimited Respecs League)

i think many players want free and unlimited respec on passive skill. this allows the players to have fun and play as many builds as possible for all the 6 classes.
ggg should copy diablo 3 style of "free respecs in town" and implement it over in poe. if the developers fear that free respecs will make it too easy for players in default league, they should consider implementing a separate league from the default league called the "free respecs league" where this style of gameplay can be played. ------------------------------------------------------- what i mean is that many players want to have fun and try out infinite different builds of the 6 classes.... example, my witch clear up a dungeon with her wand and go to town. after that she decides to wield 2h maul, so she respecs all her points to resolute technique. the next day, she decides to use a bow. then she goes to town and respecs all her points to iron grip and iron reflexes. after that, she wants to use claw. she goes to town and respecs into soul raker 1/2/3. and so on etc, etc, etc...... with the "free respecs league", players can have fun and play infinite builds using the same character. they don't have to start and level up all over again from lvl 1. ------------------------------------------------------- it is observed that there are a few players out there who are not happy with free unlimited respec and some players are attacking this thread... implementing a separate sandboxed free unlimited respec league is about having fun and letting players have greater options and creativity in game playing. we all play games because gaming is fun, so why not make it more fun and take it to another higher level. the point is that many players want to create 6 characters --- one for each of the 6 classes. they do not want to create 60 characters --- 10 builds for each of the 6 classes. we also need to take into consideration the demographic profile of an average casual gamer. a casual gamer needs to: 1) has a day job (or night job/or shift job/or whatever).... if student, then need to go college and study during the day.... 2) has family commitments and need to spend time with family members and friends...... have to spend time on dating as well... 3) need time for hobbies... for sports... for spending time on cultural/art/social activities... time for religious activities as well... 4) time for leisure and entertainment... going out for movies, etc, etc... having said that, it depends on what direction ggg wants for poe to take and to move into.... does ggg wants poe to go fully mainstream and be played by all kinds of gamers (casual/hardcore/whatever) from all over the world? or does ggg wants poe to be only played by hardcore players? (forgo everything else in life and just spend hours on gaming everyday) ??? personally i think it's not healthy for a gamer to spend hours staring at the passive skill tree and attempting to map out a build... it is insane for a witch class (or other 5 classes) to have 10++ builds, 1 for wand dmg, 1 for necro summonning, 1 for bows, 1 for 2h weapons, 1 for 1h weapons/shield, 1 for elemental spell dmg, etc, etc... it would be a great thing is poe can be played and enjoyed by mainstream casual players who are likely to respec their characters back in town to try out new playing styles. it would be a great thing if poe can by played by all kinds of pple... imagine when word spread out and poe is known everywhere and many pple are playing it... imagine if tom cruise or barrack obama or linkin park is downloading poe and trying out casual hack and slash gaming... having said all this, i am almost 99% certain that if ggg were to implement a sandboxed "Free Unlimited Respecs League" in poe, the default league will eventually become a ghost town. why not ggg just try this out for a couple of months and see how it goes... if it doesn't work out well, then just remove the respecs league... there's no harm done... this idea is worth experimenting... 34pre98qua Last edited by stkmro#2432 on Apr 4, 2012, 11:18:02 PM

What, and waste that incredible passive tree tool they've put on this very website so that you can pre-plan meticulously instead of rather ignorantly just jumping straight into the game and going OHMYGODWHATISTHISMESS?!
You had to come to this site to get the game in the first place, so it's not as if it's even out of your way or some weird destination on the web. ...Free to play games often, and typically, rely on their website, forum and occasionally wiki instead of a manual (or pdf, as is tragically the case these days). I once touched the monkey in the pale moonlight of respec grove. I learned that planning ahead before touching the monkey in moolight gove that I could not only feel the very power of sally struthers telling me dion warwick was watching from her hotline helicopter that sometimes we just have to sit back and let the gravy soak into the biscuit , delicious , couple eggs and coffee before another round of POE madness. The main reason they need a ability to respect is that if someone makes bad choices they are basically ruined, having respects allows to learn which works best for their type of play, hence I am in support of the free respec system, or even one which costs a small amount to do of in game currency to use up the resources.

" Many players want gold, too. It is not going to happen. GGG wants you to be able to do small scale respecs with orbs of regret. For a full respec, you have to aquire a lot of these (which is not terribly difficult at high level, to be honest, actually it is too easy). If you want to play a completely different character, you are supposed to play it from scratch. Disregard witches, aquire currency.

But ALL of the fun for me in these types of game is THE GRIND. which free respecs would ruin. I personally love the way they have it set up now, where a few respec points are given here and there, plus useable items that allow you to redeem one point here or there. Make different character types and keep playing the game.. one of the things they tout about themselves is massive replayability, which is one of the major things missing from every video game I've played in the last 6 years.

No, oh god no. Would remove the point of even having choices if they meant nothing and could be switched at any time, it would be the exact same as saying everyone gets the exact same skills but can only use a few of them at once, which is just a terrible terrible idea.
