free unlimited respec on passive skill (or a sandboxed Free Unlimited Respecs League)
wouldn't it be more fun to create another char and raise him from scratch?) or to have different chars of the same class with different builds..
and there is one thing - if you completely change build of your high-lvl char you have to level up new skills for him (if you have no different high lvl skill gems). that will take plenty of time and will be not easy as your skills are not powerfull enough for high lvl monsters. although this is just theoricraft as i played game only during betaweekend) btw i like current system with orbs of regret and respec points for quests. |

" You want something that is directly oppsed to what the devs want. If you want a wand witch, you play one from scratch. If you want a witch using a two-handed mace, you play one from the start. It adds replayability. You are encouraged to have more than one of a class. Plus, there is an option to respec: Orbs of Regret. They are, however, not free. You will have to do something in order to change the decisions you made. And that's just the way I like it. 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

" negative. without free unlimited respecs, many players will google the best build and you will see hundred players with the same build. u will probably never see a witch using 2h mauls or marauder with wands. with free unlimited respecs, you will see many classes using different types of weapons and armor. it introduces players to have fun playing different builds. even a marauder/ranger can try out builds like lord of the dead or chaos inoculation whenever they want. 34pre98qua

I would prefer that they had 0 respec opportunities, but i realize this doesnt appeal to the genereal public.

I think that there must a compromise, why not let players respect,(with in a limit, like twice a month, or a bit expensive to the point you have to play a few hours to afford it) in normal leagues, so that players can try new things? New ideas?
Past this week, I found my self discussing with friends builds and ideas to our characters. And although I wouldn't mind to create new chars for all of them, I do not have the time to do it so. It sad's me that I will probably just search for an ok build in the forums for my first play through, and not build my char, just because I do not want to be level 60 with a bad build. If you gave the players the option to respect a couple of times, they will be able to try new things, and push the passive skills to the limit. In conclusion, why not let players respect their char on normal difficult, just so that they have the opportunity to try new things, and then on harder difficulties, have a system where it is harder or almost impossible to do it? If you plan to have different level of difficulties why not respecting me one of them? Last edited by chickenhawk#1439 on Apr 4, 2012, 4:25:21 AM

Hi stkmro, you should had done your homework first.
There IS respecting in the game, both via currency orb and an quest in Act 2. As for full respecting...well who knows how the future will hold out for that, but it won't be sold in cash shop as that's selling power. Sweeping Maid

" The devs have already quite clearly stated they don't want people to be able to fully respec on a whim. If you want to build a character totally differently then start a new one - and that way you'll play for longer and hopefully spend more on credit for GGG to continue introducing more content :) Besides any half-decent player will accept the inability to fully respec and just get on with it. DON'T make the game easier just because you're too lazy to either plan properly or start again from scratch. Jeez I remember getting my D2 characters up to 95+ just to realise I'd but a couple too many points in Str than strictly required - only to start all over again from scratch for the 'perfect' build. 99% of suggested changes would make the game easier. Thats why only 1% of suggested ideas are even worth considering. Last edited by arual#2184 on Apr 4, 2012, 5:34:19 AM

" The problem is that I do not have 20+ hours to play PoE per week. Why not have different leagues with different rules about respecting? I understand that in higher difficulties you want to restrict respect. But I only see negatives things about letting the normal player to not respect. I am not saying to be like D3, yes there must be a compromise, a price for a respect. Last edited by chickenhawk#1439 on Apr 4, 2012, 5:52:36 AM

The devs have stated numerous times that there will not be an option to fully respec, especially free and unlimited respecs.
There isn't going to be a sandbox league that makes the game easier than Default. In a free-to-play game, there have to be reasons for players to continue playing the game. Allowing every possible build across 6 characters doesn't fit this theory very well at all. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.
