Other than that, removing the names and magic items from the timer system seems to be a step into the right direction. Improved readability and hopefully less complaints in the form of "that was mine/her/his item, not yours!"

Freaking love snatching items right as they come off the timer, or having something cool taken from right under my nose. We're exiled criminals who have to do anything to survive, not noble heroes who carefully decide who gets what... Besides, that'd slow down the pacing of the game to much anyway.

You don't have many friends in real life, do you?

I suppose that's why you feel entitled in a video game of all things.

Kudo's that you're trying to do something about the ninja looting but...

Changing the loot of only magic items isn't going to change anything.
Ninja looters mostly go for the items that are still ninja-lootable (rares, uniques, currency, maps).
Even increasing the timer by 1 secondis not the way to fix it.

That's the reason I don't play in party's.
Loot should be player separated, treated like instance loot.

Why not give us the option to make it like shared loot or not?
What's the big drawback on this?
I don't see why we can't have an option to turn it on or off.

An option to make it instance loot yes/no = win for everyone.

I'd like to hear from Chris or someone from GGG, why can't we have that option?

This needed the critical update, thanks. but now, its very easy to miss your items, loot name should flash or something when it drops if its yours. and we need new flashy sound effects for some costy items like exalted, maps, gems, GCP etc! (this game's most exciting moments is when you find good loot drop)

and for maps, map owners should have more control over map drops imo, they are the one who invest crafting it just for more map chances.

also, a new feature that states(in party or system chat) the player's name who picked another player's costy drops would be hilarious!

The timing is too long. I vote to have it put back to the original timing. It felt more exciting.

I do like that name association is no longer included, hence relieving all the QQ about that was mine, give it back.

P.S
I like to ninja.

Great update GGG !

Can't wait to try it out tonight :3
Not having names on the items is the best addition to the loot system. The loot is much more organized and I no longer have to see peoples stupid names on everything. Especially when players purposely make lame names just to be more visible on loot.

The extra time is also a blessing. I feel that adding increased range to the pick-up would also be beneficial. Tired of having to spam click items just to pick them up because people are hovering over the item making my pathing to that item impossible. Not a huge increase, but something so that the loot whores can't just stand over my item not letting me to it.

Overall, I love these changes. Def a step in the right direction.
Helps keep the item clutter down which is nice. However I would like for my own drops too atleast show my own name for the duration of the timer too make the item easier to grab or atleast an option too enable it.

this is bad.
we cant even let others know whose item it is if they dont see it.
Its good for random but very bad for a party u run with all the time.

In reading the replies, I have to ask: Why is one group trying to force a style of play on another group that really hates that style of play? The "we know what's fun and you don't" attitude does little to encourage positive word-of-mouth advertising and financial support.

I can appreciate that people like competitive FFA loot, just as I can appreciate that people like instanced loot. The solution that I so strongly wish for, is to empower current and future players with the capability to choose how loot is handled when they form a group, as well as the capability to filter open groups by their preferred loot option.

You cannot convert people to enjoy a system they don't like. The players who really dislike FFA loot will simply (a) play solo, (b) play strictly with like-minded players, or (c) not play the game at all. This patch (the removal of names) made (b) more difficult. Would you rather turn this audience away than support them within the game?
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

Or people busy killing, y'know, playing the game.

Or people like me, playing from Australia on the US gateway and barely scraping up 250 ping.

This change is hardly caving. Caving would be going full allocated. This is a compromise, and if you feel that compromises are caving, then...eh, good thing not all the players are so resistant to change, because change has as much potential for improvement as it does degradation.

I play in parties with friends only, so I'll be able to give some feedback regarding these changes from the perspective of someone who's never dealt with so-called ninjas. Soon.
