0.10.3c Patch Notes

I hope the longer timer won't negatively affect the pacing of my wand templar. He is required to constantly move from pack to pack to keep the power charges up. Will test this out later. :)
Disregard witches, aquire currency.

Awesome change. I'm actually going to party more now. The longer timer will compensate for my slow machine and no names = no entitlement. This game just keeps getting better
It would be great if the leader can choose the loot systrm.
Removal of the name reli reli bad, GGG didnt consoder the situation that we play with friends and the loots drop outside our sight.
This is even worser than before for a premade party
While i like these changes for the sake of other people (i was normally the one getting nearly everything), i really think the only way to solve the overal problem is to let players decide what loot-mode they want.
To indicate the loot-mode on the public board, you can just put a big letter on the right side of each party (for example G for group loot), which shows the full name of the loot-mode with a little explanation text on mouse-over.

Now for suitable modes:
Free For All: D2-like - no timers, no reservation.
Timed FFA: What we currently (after patch 0.10.3c) have, this should also be the standard.
Group Loot: Items are bound to players, either with a large timer or need to be picked-up and dropped for them become available to other players.

Suitable subsettings:
Loot timer: Timer how long loots get reserved, for Timed FFA. (Because personally, for quick play it's just a tiny bit too long now)
Loot threshold: The tier at which loot falls under the loot-mode rules. Everything under it is FFA.
Forum version of patch notes:

Spoiler
Version 0.10.3c

Magic items are no longer allocated to specific players when they drop. The only items allocated are: Uniques, Rares, Gems, Currency and Maps.
Increased the base duration of the item allocation timer from 1.6 seconds to 2.6 seconds. There is still a bonus allocation time for characters that are a distance away (travel time +10%).
Allocated items no longer show a countdown timer or player name. They are still dimmed out while they are allocated to someone else.
These changes were made to reduce the number of allocated items (for readability), increase their allocation duration (for fairness) and to reduce the visual chaos associated with the timer and allocation name appearing and disappearing (for readability). In our testing it is now much easier to see what items bosses drop and to click the items that are allocated to you.

These changes are the result of a lot of internal testing and discussion of player feedback. We will certainly make changes to the looting system in the future based on continued feedback. After you've tried out the new patch, we'd like to hear:

Was it easier to read what items drop now that fewer are allocated and the size of the item hovers doesn't change?
Does the increased allocation duration help enough in terms of being able to grab items in time assuming you react quickly?

nothing much.. just 5%
I'm no beast of burden...
Love the changes, thanks GGG for listening to the community and applying these regular patches it is really refreshing.

Next loot enhancements which might be good to consider;

1 - Ability for loot labels to display in a tidy manner eg: loot labels arranged in a 'grid' that appears -where- the mob has been killed.

2 - (additionally or as a workaround to the above) The ability to adjust the scale of item labels font and/or bounding box so that they can all fit on the screen with boss kills in already populated loot zones. eg: all loot displays central on boss, rather than being forced off the screen by existing loot labels.

Thanks :)

Edit: After 2 weeks play with the new loot changes i can confirm they really are great, thanks GGG!

Nice patch GGG. Thx!

Can u please fix the doors in solaris temple, so that we have to click directly (not around the door) at the door to open/close it?

Best regards!
A bit better for public & competitive parties, a bit worse for friendly gaming. Good change inside the limits devs set. I'd like some change outside those limits better, though.

I think the named loot is a good feature that should stay.

Kudo's that you're trying to do something about the ninja looting but...

Changing the loot of only magic items isn't going to change anything.
Ninja looters mostly go for the items that are still ninja-lootable (rares, uniques, currency, maps).
Even increasing the timer by 1 secondis not the way to fix it.

That's the reason I don't play in party's.
Loot should be player separated, treated like instance loot.

Why not give us the option to make it like shared loot or not?
What's the big drawback on this?
I don't see why we can't have an option to turn it on or off.

An option to make it instance loot yes/no = win for everyone.

I'd like to hear from Chris or someone from GGG, why can't we have that option?

GGG isn't trying to remove competitive looting from the game. As stated in the patch notes, these changes are predominantly for readability and fairness.
