0.10.3c Patch Notes

Although I don't like this change too much, I will give it a go and see how it feels. Removing the names was a great idea, increasing the timer not so.

We are very against adding meta-options (like looting modes) to the game for a variety of reasons, so they are seen as a last resort.

I read this on Reddit, if you do give people the option you can probably guess the outcome.
Amazoone - LVL70 RIP, Ghenkis - LVL52 RIP, Tempelaar LVL55 RIP
Ghenkes - LVL83 EK Mara, Amazooon - lvl61 Ranger and both going strong :)

I don't see how increasing the loot timer with a full second makes this any more "fair" towards anyone. Aren't you just caving in to the complaints from people with slow reflexes?

Other than that, removing the names and magic items from the timer system seems to be a step into the right direction. Improved readability and hopefully less complaints in the form of "that was mine/her/his item, not yours!"

Freaking love snatching items right as they come off the timer, or having something cool taken from right under my nose. We're exiled criminals who have to do anything to survive, not noble heroes who carefully decide who gets what... Besides, that'd slow down the pacing of the game to much anyway.

You don't have many friends in real life, do you?

I suppose that's why you feel entitled in a video game of all things.

Feeling entitled would mean that I don't like someone grabbing my items. Learn to read, instead of making crappy insults? xD

I've tried to say it many times and I've urged GGG not to do it. If you give out extra options, even just one, it's a slippery slope and only downhill from there.
Keep your decision and let the whiners whine, they will do it nonetheless, no matter the outcome.

After you've tried out the new patch, we'd like to hear:

  • Was it easier to read what items drop now that fewer are allocated and the size of the item hovers doesn't change?
  • Does the increased allocation duration help enough in terms of being able to grab items in time assuming you react quickly?

I have just tried out the new patch for about 30 minutes in a Public + Free-for-all + Docks Party.

I like that fewer items are allocated. I found allocated magic items to be annoying because as an allocated drop I would still have to assess whether or not they were worth looting. Now I can largely ignore them. This is good.

I preferred larger item hovers, easier to see/click, enough said. (without mis-clicking on surrounding loot)
I preferred being able to see a timer. Now I will be making suicide runs for all worthy allocated loot. To me the timer was the most eye-catching aspect (and the highlighted text) of an allocated drop, so I would love to see this return.

I like the increased allocation duration. I always felt it needed to be slightly longer, this seems to have been addressed most adequately.

When playing in a public free-for-all, or generally partying with strangers/randoms these changes are mostly to the positive (well done :D ). However, for all party-play where members prefer to respect the allocated drops of other players (even well beyond the expiration of the timer) this patch is effectively a killing blow.

In short: I can honestly say I will be enjoying party-play with friends significantly less now that loot has become ambiguous.
Given that I derive my most enjoyable experiences with this game from such party-play, the direct result of this patch is that I will enjoy the game much less.

I took the time to provide this feedback because I care. This is a great game!

It's not a 13 week development cycle, it's a 13 week supporter-pack cycle.
You can play any build you want, as long as it's the current meta.
GGG thank you for these much needed changes.
I'll play in pub again now !

edit: beeing ninjaed all the time is nothing else than having bad ping+bad fps.

=.= Pls ignore my old threads (more than 1 month ago) =.=

I dont like to post in loot threads, but removing the names really hurt the party play for me.

Remove the timers. Keep the names.

Keep the names PLX
Ranged really hurt because of this change

Very nice read, I agree on the party-play killing blow. Ran with the same group of friends as yesterday and it was horrible. I was scared to pick anything up, I had no idea what was "mine" and any unique drops were hardly visible until after the timer ran out. I'll only either solo or run 2-man and share each item while on vent from now on.

Not a good change for me, but I'll deal with it if you decide to keep it.
how about fixing cyclone???????

I play shadow DW claw, and i farm twice as fas and safe with a good 5l bow la/chain/lmp. EVEN with my spec which is totally useless for LA build!!!!
LA build is by far more efficient!

Do you even p,ay this game? See for yourself, playing DW melee vs ranger is 2 different games

THIS IS JUST NOT FAIR

THIS GAME HAS only 3 SKILL NOW, Lightning Arrow, Freezing pulse, Ground Slam...
