For those living in the black is white, up is down, truth isn't truth delusion of the last 4 years, prospects are bleak. I hope for the sake of humanity they're able to finally snap out of it. It was never going to be fully contained and you know it. That's not the world we live in. The moment it was identified in Wuhan we all knew it was going to be global. We didn't expect it to be bad because we fooled ourselves and said, well, that's China. Poor health standards, communist society, very packed living. Of course it ripped through them. Us? We'll get a handful of cases probably. How fucking naive we were. And yeah, I'm dramatic. I admit it seems like I'm overreacting. But ask yourself: what is the cost of overreacting vs the cost of underreacting? Some holes in your assesment. 1) china didn't react, the WHO and CDC reacted and put public pressure on the party and by extension xi. There is a reason why i mentioned the doctor being jailed event, the arcticles weren't some random accident and neither was the response after those types of articles being released. 2) china's response when they did react was fast and propper, but your easily dancing over the fact they are the starting line of many of the supply chaines when it comes to medical tech. Unlike most country's which you seem to be condemning implicitly, they don't simply have a bunch of masks available which were promised delivery's to other country's which you can just selfishly drop and redirect in-house. It would be like saying that country's suck at handling oil when tomorrow russia/iran and the saudi's horded all their oil for own consumption. I would call that a failed analysis and semi-uselles. The country's that have the available tools to combat this situation will utilize them themselves and this will put other country's at risk, that's how the system operates. I don't know if purchasing all toilet paper in sight is some sort of modern instinct or something when there is a crisis but I'd really like it stop. I don't want to have to travel farther away because some (literal)asshole decided to buy out the whole shelf.
