Damaging ailments are based on the base damage of the hit (before increased/decreased/more/less modifiers), then the appropriate modifiers are applied. In this case, the reduction to damage with hits doesn't apply to ailments, which are damage over time.
Well... since the 1% of the top players get the bulk of their damage from gear, and those were lest untouched, i suspect we will still see streamers 1-hiting everything on their way

Nerfing gems is bound to affect only the lower players, since we will now need to rely more on gear to get the same damage output. Something like a 50% less damage modifier from the gem nerf will not even be noticeable for someone who can afford a tier 1 mod that gives 170%-ish on the weapon slot alone, so the top 1% can rest assured it is only a minor nerf

Casuals are going to have a hard time tho, since those are the pool that rely on gems more. It will be interesting to see the proportion of players that make it to red maps and how many get a maven kill compared to previous leagues, the end-content will be gated pretty harder for most people but i wonder by how much
GGG is so biased with aurabots because their staff members enjoy it and want to pidgeonhole everything into dependency on aurabots, it's not even a conspiracy at this point.

Huge nerf league, literally everything getting handed out massive nerfs, Aurabots untouched. How is aurabot dependency being forced?

Simple, all brand medium cluster notables received HUGE nerfs. No more cast speed from them, instead you get some useless stats that no brand spec wants. Why is this a big deal? Because you stack cast speed for activation frequency to hit certain breakpoints on Penance Brand. This is an issue because there is barely any cast speed on the tree and your main source were Void Batteries/Prophecy wands, helmet enchant and medium clusters. You won't be able to hit that activation frequency now without HH, or an aura bot or if you for some dumb reason use faster casting in your 6l which with all the support gem nerfs here is gonna tank your dps even more.

However, a very popular way of playing Penance Brand was with an aurabot. When you run PB with an aurabot, you don't run medium clusters for brands, you instead run First Among Equals and Purposeful Harbinger medium clusters and 5 heralds to maximize your buffs from your aurabot. It was already far too superior compared to solo PB, and guess how PB will be played this league?

But hey, to hell with all of us, Rory will have a great league once again running around and.... giving other players buffs...

Headhunter, the item that single-handedly goes against this whole philosophy is also untouched and will keep trivializing content alongside aurabotting.

Also heavy nerfs in damage and defense, 0 changes in mob damage while still keeping the combat nonexistent and meaningless.

I'm all for slowing the game down, in fact I've been saying it for years, but this is not how you do it, this is just some lazy nerfing without actually fixing anything. It actually baffles me that anyone at ggg unironically thinks that this is how you increase build diversity. Yeah I'm definitely playing Molten Strike, that minor gem buff is really gonna a make a difference, just try to ignore how awful it is mechanically after getting carpet bombed with nerfs.

Great patch, solid 1/10 (previously 10/10).

What in damnation have you done?
You say the game is unplayable and everything is nerfed, i say thanks for giving me a ton of build options and more diversity to play with. Here's to 10 more builds this league and another few months of playing you exclusively poe.

this league is looking AMAZING! i might even drag my ass outta standard and go full temp league for this.

only change its missing is aura's only affect the player and their minions.
