Why not damage reduction like T1-T5 -20%, T6-T11 -40%, T12 ... -60% :))))))

Chris from Announcement Stream
"Some game handle this (power creep) by just endlessly and exponentially scaling monster life and damage to counteract player growth. ... This is a really cheap approach and makes feel like a treadmill. ... We dont want to treat path of exile like that, and hence our solutions are more complicated." - https://youtu.be/mT_aoGoMm50?t=1412 (23:32) Patch Notes - Monster life has been increased by roughly 46% at level 1 Good one. Still waiting to see your complicated solutions, unless your solution is just buffing monster life one act at a time and not act like this is exactly what you said you weren't going to do? Chris - "Firstly, the gap between good and bad support gems has been narrowed; creating more interesting build opportunities" Barely any meaningful buffs for any support gems, just mana cost increases everywhere and damage reductions for the biggest damage supports. I don't even care for the nerfs but dont act like you've balanced the game for the average player. You've balanced the game for the average player who plays the game for more than 20+ hours a week and gets 36-40 challenges every league. |

Rest In Peace my friend! We had some good times, but now that is over.

" Thats the thing. They nerfed the best supports so harshly to bring them down to the same level as the terrible support gems that no one ever used or ever wanted to use. |

Okay, been around for few years and i think its time to move on now. Was a fun ride tho.

Dear GGG,
I was not planning to post any negative messages this league, because I was full of excitement for this new league despite the prior knowledge of upcoming nerfs from the expansion trailer and balance manifesto, but this is outrageous. Last league I already stopped playing sooner than I had hoped, because truth be told, coming up with a league that surrounds players with dozens of mobs in a game where the most tanky players get one shot out of nowhere for no particular reason is the worst idea ever. Due to quitting the league earlier I have no knowledge about the builds that streamers were playing, but the starter build I was planning to play this league just got COMPLETELY OBLITERATED to the point where I am actually sweating reading through the patch notes. Let's take a look at my intended and favorite build, arc ignite (6-link): - Arc - no changes - Burning damage support - from 54% to 34% more damage. - Deadly ailments support - from 64% to 44% more damage. - Unbound ailments support - from 34% to 19% more damage. - Ignite proliferation support - from 39% to 24% more damage. - Swift afflication support - from 44% to 34% more damage. The total MORE multiplier we get from the old gems: 1.54 * 1.64 * 1.34 * 1.39 * 1.44 = 6.7740228864 The total MORE multiplier we get from new gems: 1.34 * 1.44 * 1.19 * 1.24 * 1.34 = 3.8154057984 Relative damage multiplier: 3.815 / 6.774 = 0.563 = 44% LESS DAMAGE If we include nerfs from gem quality and duration modifiers (let alone flask and skill tree nerfs) this will increase further to: more than 50% LESS DAMAGE This goes far beyond: 'Overall, this works out to a total of somewhere around 20%, potentially as high as 40% damage reduction' PLEASE FIX YOUR NUMERIC ESTIMATES TO BE CLOSER TO REALITY. And please don't tell me that the DoT multiplier suffix will make up for this, because it won't even come close and this build was barely playable as is and only because of the good support gems. If any skills in particular are overpowered, nerf them, not the entire system behind it that propagates to all corners of the game. I will still be attempting this league, with a slower, tankier character than planned, but if the sudden one shots keep happening, I am once again leaving early. I love this game and have, for many years, but the time investment and unpredictability are out of hand. Also nerfing the builds people love playing isn't the way to go and never has been. When will this be clear? Still love you GGG, but please start listening to the majority of players instead of streamers (who literally play full-time during work time) and spend more time on actual statistical analysis instead of probabilistic models revolving around exceptional players to come up with balance changes to the game. It's been a fun ride for nine years. I guess all good things have to come to an end at some point.

It feels like the devs are once again balancing the game around the top 5% of players.
This is the second league in a row where the game has been gutted by nerfs and it's really demoralizing. Last edited by Sighted#2345 on Jul 21, 2021, 9:31:25 AM
