Toxic Actiblizz scandal and lawsuit

Discuss.

It is HUGE news, not just gaming. More business news. Some people are boycotting and I heard some are boycotting streaming their games.

Harsh?

If half the stuff they are saying actually happened, it is really disgusting and I feel sorry for anyone that has to work there. :(

What happened and where are the links?
For those whose Google Fu is so weak that they basically live under a newsproof rock: first, I low-key envy you, and second, the State of California has brought a lawsuit against Blizzard alleging that it is a hostile workplace for women, with some claims that are, what's the word?

Juicy?

And I don't exactly expect people to not be aware of such claims. What California states is damning if true. But I find myself mostly unwilling to

I am more than bored by now with the neverending Twitter wars between Oceania and Eurasia, wherein the two sides form battle lines to hash it out over whether one side is right or not. The truth is that we don't know what the truth is. More than anything, I am sick and tired of pretending that those who care the deepest, on either side of an issue, are supernaturally equipped with the means to empirically hash out a complicated issue in a matter of days through pure raw punditry on social media. The Church of Trial by Discussion. It's a deeply unscientific, undisciplined, and unfortunately pervasive worldview.

Instead, I prefer the "let's not discuss." Let's wait and see how this develops, letting each side have their due time in court — and by "each side," I mean Blizzard and California, not social media cheerleaders — because you are not actually on a side at all, you're just trying to convince yourself you are so you can revel in a football team mentality. But you're not on the field — you're in the bleachers. Or at least you should be, used to be, back in a time where we drew the distinction between such things.

I want to redraw that distinction — build a wall, if you will, between those with justifiable interest and the grasping hands of the peanut gallery. I mean really, what ever happened to plain old not giving a fuck? Well, I want to make not giving a fuck great again.

Is this because I want to shove important social issues under the rug? No, not at all. But you can't have every important social issue simultaneously. What you gain on the one hand has a cost in the other, it's not free. And when it comes down to it, I miss you, fans of the other team. I remember when we could hang out and have good times together. Now it's just so terribly awkward, and why?

Discussion. Fuck discussion. Who wants to play some fucking games?
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
I'm just glad Afrasiabi is getting his just desserts. He's been a well known scumbag since his everquest days. God knows why they'd give a gamerbro with a huge ego lots of power and little oversight.

Just saw a "boycott ActiBlizzard" post on Facebook. Can't help there... it's been years since I've had anything to do with them.
Jesus, this ‘Cosby Suite’ stuff is vile.
no real evidence of guilt as always

Atleast they let you respawn after you got your Xtra-long-nails stuck in the keyboard, unlike when you step on a landmine in the military because of the hostile envoirment.

How would you know? So if something isn't made publicly available on the internet now, it's fake? I guess that would be a reasonable enough position if the goal here was to convince you. But the goal here is not to convince you. You are not a party to the lawsuit in question.

Same thing for everyone else here. Yes, I get that some of the claims allege some seriously vile things. Might be true, might not. But it is not the defense's job to present to YOU evidence that counters those claims, if any such evidence exists. Indeed, if that evidence exists, it would probably be grounds for a lawsuit if they make it publicly available without sufficient permissions — and it might not be a good idea to ask for that permission, as it might put an employee under too much pressure to agree.

Imagine, if you would, the existential horror of being accused of depraved sexual acts by a huge online mob, but unable to defend yourself because you don't want to violate the confidentiality of an employee. Or, conversely, being sexually harassed and not having people on the internet openly skeptical of been your claims of victimhood, essentially demanding that you relive your abuse over and over again by making it publicly available for the crowd to gawk at.

It seems very self-serving and immature to me, to be so keen on this horrible situation as a source of entertainment.

I don't think anyone here is confused about this. Surely we're all aware this is the Path of Exile Off Topic forum and not a courtroom.
